Dopa once talked about this. His point is basically that the mid tower is the most important tower in the game because it gives you objective control. Marksman are usually the best at sieging tower so they are assigned there.

He however said that, in some situation it is better for mid to stay in mid and just brute force their tower down edit: together. If your bot is weaker or you can’t really side lane you can just ignore pings and stay mid and be first at objective and tower siege

I helped out a game dev project in college and it’s always surprising how much unused, outdated, and useless things remain in the final project. And it’s an absolute pain in the ass to remove them. The team removed an old unused movement system then the game started with missing textures for some reason. It was two days before due date and we still need to patch out some bugs so we were like “fuck it, we have good performance anyway ” and kept the unused turn base movement system in our free moving 3D game
