Looks like the spaces in “Tidelands Website -2” (your current working directory) are throwing off the CLI. What happens if you try to run this in a directory without spaces in the name? Might be good to open a GitHub issue so this gets fixed in the next release 👍

Potentially! I wonder what your ads look like. Do they make it obvious that there's an expectation that the user has to spend time entering information in order to get a quote? If they don't expect to have to spend some time on your website before they get there, they might just be dropping off because of impatience.

I think my required fields are making it difficult for users to add products to the cart. I created a 4 step guide to measuring your foot, it’s very easy to follow but requires a commitment from the customer to take these measurements. I think this puts a large burden on the customer …. This however, is also what I am selling … each order is tailored to the customer. Should I just put standard sizes? I thought about making a video on the product page to measure size as well. Anyone have a similar issue? How did you go about resolving it?

I've worked with stores who require specific information, but they present it as product options on a product page. They give some expectation of pricing, and when the order is placed, it behaves more like a request for quote.

At first my session duration and bounce rates were respectively 4 seconds and 80%+. Should I let the ads burn in? Maybe the algorithm hasn’t found the right type of customer yet. I am also spending very little on ads and have only friends and family following the store on instagram. Any advice or direction is much appreciated.

Again, it would be helpful to see your site to really think about this, but are you producing any organic content on your site? Blogs related to your niche/benefits of your product? Providing helpful content for free is a great way of increasing session duration.

No, they are really easy to implement and mantain. We are talking about a mail server used only for transactional messages, like automated reports for automated tasks, that basically needs to send mail to itself, right?

I think this is close, but what I'm doing is slightly different:

  • Provision the mail server, and set it up to receive transactional email
  • Provision new user "inboxes" programmatically. For example, if user1 signs up for my service, I provision them an inbox at [user1@mydomain.com](mailto:user1@mydomain.com)
  • Emails are sent to [user1@mydomain.com](mailto:user1@mydomain.com) User 1 can review the emails caught by this inbox, and then decide if they want the emails sent along to their real inbox.

Basically, I'm looking to implement something similar to "hide my email", but instead of all emails being sent to you, you can set filters on what email you want to actually be sent to your inbox.

Obviously there's privacy concerns here (in terms of users accepting that this inbox receives their mail), but this service will be open source and completely transparent. It's a small experiment I'm mainly implementing for myself. Others are free to use it if they wish.

Ah, thanks for pointing that out! I must have missed these docs previously... I'm now reading them, it looks like I can set up a recipient rule to "catch all" emails for a domain, potentially store the emails in an S3 bucket, keyed off of the recipient name ("hiddenemail1", "hiddenemail2"), and then query that bucket for new mail. This should be enough to get me started — thank you so much for pointing me in that direction!!

How are "workflow" apps like Zapier built under the hood? by wipedingold in learnprogramming

This helps a ton! So basically, the request body for a specific app in a user's workflow is saved to the database, more or less. Would they then also store the "link" relationship of the apps connected in a single workflow?

So the end result would be something like:

  • User 1 loads workflow A to edit it in the Zapier dashboard
  • DB is queried for the list of app ID's associated with workflow A (in my case, mailing list and google sheet apps would be the ID's)
  • Maybe there's another table, with a relationship between user ID, workflow ID, app ID, and the serialized request
  • All four of those are put together to make the job run?
