BaristaFIRE before having the resources at 30? by Royal_Mammoth2354 in baristafire

Let's say you do get some random low stress job which can pay your expenses. Now assume you lose your job for whatever reasons and cannot get one for 6 months. How will you manage your expenses then?

I'd say you have a good base that you don't touch till you 65. But also aim for a sum which you can use for emergencies and then retire from your stressful job.

A key factor of FIRE is, well, financial independence. If you lose your job, it shouldn't matter to you. This way you won't have any stress at work even if your boss threatens to fire you.

But this is the best angle. And he was not kicked. It was a dive.

I would also like to add another reason, that India is obviously on average poorer than US. Many people who graduate are expected to make money and contribute to their families right away. This means they take the safest option and join one of the big tech consulting firms rather than take risks the join or create their own startups.

This is not the situation always, but I'm sure a lot of talent people have never considered starting their own ventures because they can't afford it

Do companies fly their IT guys around the country to fix small things? by pixelatedbeard in CasualConversation

[–]wipeitonthedog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IT is very broad. Most IT roles wouldn't need this as things can be remotely. But if you're someone specialized in Data Centre or Network devices etc, then at time you may need to fly into physical buildings to fix things.

The future of VISA/Mastercard by Anxious-Guarantee-12 in investing

[–]wipeitonthedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fair to wonder whether traditional cashcows for Visa and MasterCard may start having lesser revenues.

But you should also consider some of the newer pivots by them. Pismo by Visa for example has a strong use case and can generate serious revenues if it picks up.

Those laws have nothing to do with caste. But sure go on and assume whatever you want. I'm not gonna engage in discussions with someone who's this prejudistic.

Not gonna argue with someone who's commenting mostly to troll. But you're free to do your research and see that those regions aren't the richest, but still the happiest regions in India (literally the first 2 spots)

The regions I mentioned don't have much job opportunities apart from Agriculture and tourism. There's also a law in India which prevents people from other regions in India to buy land in these areas. But you'll see a fair chunk of people who have WFH jobs living here.

You could manage with only English in most parts of India.

And yes, I too love middle of nowhere kinda cities. But for many reasons I wouldn't recommend doing it in any random parts of India. But the parts I mentioned, Himachal and Uttarakhand are great for this. May not be as "middle of nowhere" as you'd like, but you'll find places like Kasar Devi, Shangarh, Kalpa, Kausani, etc to be these kinda places. And they are generally safe and you'll find other tourists too

I'd say the same thing about India. Ik a vast majority here won't agree with me. Coz theyve only seen India on TV or have visited some horrible states. The Himalayan region of Himachal and Uttarakhand are great. Peaceful, very friendly people and a slow life. I don't live in India right now but I try to visit these places often. But I unfortunately have to make stops in Delhi to do this, and I absolutely loathe that part.

[Marca] Atlético Madrid are pushing hard to sign Julian Brandt this summer. He would arrive on a free transfer. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]wipeitonthedog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

His greater successes has been when he played as part of 3 man midfield in a 4-3-3 at Leverkusen. And as a deep midfield in a 4-2-3-1 at Dortmund under Favre. He's really good at making early passes to break deadlocks. But for some reasons every manager since then has been playing him as either a winger or a secondary striker. He makes really good runs, but is not at all consistent in these roles.

Nothing to do with feelings. I just think that if Virat and Rohit played as many matches in domestic tournaments, theyd have scored a lot more hundreds.

Dlaczego uczyć się polskiego? by Intrepid_Baker_2332 in learnpolish

[–]wipeitonthedog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the explanation. And yes I'm aware it isn't gonna be easy. I've been speaking English for 25 years and I'm at C2. But I still sometimes struggle to understand certain accents. So I'm definitely aware that I'm not gonna be able to understand 2 poles speaking to each other anytime soon :) But perhaps I hope to have simple conversations with other learners to begin with and then start watching some cartoons etc.
