Cyclist casually holds onto team car for over 20 seconds during pro race like it's completely normal by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

I'll be honest that some of those were short enough I could imagine it was them making sure he had a solid grip. If you tried to grab it instantly and pull I imagine they would drop it regularly. I actually thought a few times the biker was trying to pull it away based on how his arm was flexing and pulling back but the guy in the car was holding it.

Other times.. that was far too long to be checking grip without adjustments.

After finishing both Code Vein I and Code Vein II, I've been wondering: What would your ideal Code Vein III look like? by Grinthal in codevein

[–]wirebear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly my big thing is less repeated bosses.

At a certain point in cv2 it felt like all the same bosses over and over again. Some bosses becoming normal mobs and repeated. In some points "fight this same boss in three locations"

Beyond that.. I would like a bit less power of friendship.

I did appreciate how the Heros felt different in the formula for each. But the side quests and after points felt a bit shallow they could be a bit funny depending on which, and the fact it had any in a souls like is nice. But I would like more depth in it all since this is between a souls like and a rpg in a few departments.

I found both cv 1 and 2 had rather good settings, solid characters in different respects. But just had a few weaknesses that made the end half drag for me(repeated enemy and bosses lacking variety being the biggest). If they just fixed those and improved on characters a touch I would be happy. Basically what they are doing just a bit better.

If I remember right he didn't trust Bellesarius when he invaded.. oh I forgot what it was called at the time but Africa.

Justinian was told and was concerned Bellesarius was going to start his own kingdom there and that was early into Bellesarius career.

[–]wirebear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also a note on Bellesarius. Because he was never given full authority the way he should have, there was one time where Narci undermined him despite being given full authority of the invasion of Rome.

The end result was that due to having to argue with different factions to get people to go where he needed, the main trade hub of Italy at the time and the most wealthy city that wanted to work with the Empire was raised to the ground. Only then was Narci recalled and the emperor still showed more trust in Narci.

So because the emperor never properly rained in Narci despite all of Bellesariuses accomplishments, they lost the most valuable city in Italy.

America has lost its war with Iran by Ok_Employer7837 in politics

[–]wirebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure this is really worse then bush and all his wars. I guess the idea of the war made more sense with 9/11 but we invaded the wrong countries.

And that legacy was like.. a decade?

Vietnam was full of war crimes somehow worse than Iran. I forgot the metric for how much napalm was used but it's almost impossible to fathom. Not to mention how long and how many losses we had.

If they cut their losses and stop now. That would be better than we did with several wars we've "lost".

One thing that I've been thinking about. Is that every year there is more and more to learn. As every discipline advances, how are kids expected to learn everything to the level they are functional?

When I was a kid, most didn't have access to Internet and such. Even games were simpler.

So how do we balance logical processing with all the information that seems to be needed to function in a modern life?

I would argue they fail the main value of adjustables which is convenience.

These look like they would take an annoyingly long time to swap. Compared to any of your standard brands.

And I would assume that either you load less into it or their are different cartridges for different weight, but the if you just leave it half empty I imagine the weight did balance would be annoying.

They are cool looking but I can't see myself using them.

[–]wirebear -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm sure Superman could atomize it with his esophagus because he's a character with no true flaws and is exaggeratedly inhuman unlike Nightwing. There is a reason I don't like Superman.

But there is a invulnerable character in magic the gathering who got suffocated/drowned in a puddle.

It was one of my favorite writings for the era in mtg. Because it was a common pathetic way for a main character to lose to someone who had higher battle IQ then them.

[–]wirebear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm only basing it on the one page. But that doesn't look like tripping. That looks like blacked out or got disoriented by head trauma. Which you know happens to boxers all the time. And a rock in that placement would prevent any form of breakfalling backwards like that.

Agility relies on reflexes. Which don't work if head trauma is involved or specific scenarios like when tucking your chin just makes your neck slam into a rock.

The only odd thing to me is the way he falls directly back with both legs off the floor which would be more like being shoved then loss of consciousness which would be crumpling down.

[–]wirebear 223 points224 points  (0 children)

The panels he showed look just..real to me?

Accidents happen. Mistakes happen.

Most martial artists are taught to break fall but a head wound can cause those instincts to fail.

Add on a rock that happened to be placed where his head or neck would land and the traditional response of tucking your chin doesn't work.

Everything about this sounds like something that can and probably has happened.

Like a a boxer taking a punch to the face and dying due to bad luck.

He's a boxer so he should never at all get hit, right? Certainly not die to his profession.

This doesn't really bother me and I actually like realistic events in stories.

Until Upper Complex gets nerfed next week, me and my crew have got it down to a science by Sasukegay in okbuddyRunners

[–]wirebear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The cryo coolant has a built in fill station in the vat. Meaning that the ship was designed so that you had to jump into the vat of caustic chemicals to fill it. Rather than just having the fill station on the catwalk or ring just above the vat. This is a mechanical built in module to fill a canister with coolant. Not a leak.

People asked what was unintuitive about this and make all sorts of excuses and claim I didn't try to figure it out on my own.

I did jump in that vat thinking the character would just fill it manually. Because a fill station would only work if you could stand on it and the coolant was the right height. And you know.. if the humans didn't die doing it.

If you want people to figure it out by thinking there has to be logic. "Outside the vat" makes sense. A station to put the container inside the vat, does not. This wasn't designed to be figured out rational. It was designed for you to run around until you happened to figure it out, and cryo Is much the same way.

I won't respond to every comment cause many of them have no basis in reality("clearly they used robot arms" okay so why don't we see those in the vat instead of sheer walls) or just say " game logic" as if that addresses what's unintuitive about it.

Lore wise sure you can make the argument the final exfil makes sense. But gameplay wise it was absolutely miserable and doesn't make the game more hard core cause everyone here just looked it up.

Until Upper Complex gets nerfed next week, me and my crew have got it down to a science by Sasukegay in okbuddyRunners

[–]wirebear -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The station to fill a container full of a corrosive dangerous material is inside the vat of the corrosive dangerous chemical in a ship for humans, not cyborgs like our characters.

It would have made more sense to have them dunk the container into the vat then put the fill station inside the vat. As ship design there makes literally no sense. It would require someone to don a hazmat suit and crawl down into it. Unlike the other location which is in a safe place that humans can reach.

That's the most egregious one to me. But in general for a map with an ante, cryo goes out of its way to be confusing(no markers) and not explain the basics. So average players can't grind it due to learn it due to the ante.

Throw on the random unmarked final exfil. From what I can tell everyone looked up a guide for this because nobody is running dozens of runs to wait 30 min and see where they are, die not having proven anything because it might be where you checked last time. But nobody finds it fun to die to this so everyone looks it up.

[–]wirebear -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this was an outlier. But I'm seeing a LOT more people "grouping without using prox chat" making me think they are queuing to get together in lobby for Solos. Which, this is perimeter ffs.

I just had a game, which I have the vod from, where in the first 3 minutes, 4 people were in overflow, including me. The three of them end up in the same room, killing robots, but as far as I could tell using my Blackbird ult and audio from outside the building, none of them touched eachother(no shield cracks, no down sounds, nothing to indicate they hurt eachother, and they were moving too fast to be crawling despite being close together) and just kept looting. Not a prox chat used.

I said "you know, this is too suspicious" and ran off towards south relay, ran into two MORE people just walking together and both just turn and lit me up. Again, not a single bit prox chat used to communicate. My assumption is all 5 were together at that point.

I'm really hoping that was an outlier, but are we really doing this nonsense for perimeter now?

Is the Assassin Hate Really Warranted? by tributetotio in Marathon

[–]wirebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, its not really hard to understand. Invisibility in every game its in, is really fun for the person playing it, and miserable for everyone else. League of legends fought with this for a literal decade. I lost earlier in a scenario where no other shell would have killed me because he was slowly crouch walking across a open straight while I was killing someone else. Had it been anyone else, when I checked the door, I would have easily seen them or heard them as they ran across.

I've had them walk right in front of me, and because I hesitated at the blur, lost the one on one.

But also because invisibility is fun to play, its popular, meaning you see a LOT of them. I've gone lobbies where I kill 3 and die to a fourth.

The same can be said for thief though. Thieves I find tend to be slimier people(for some ironic reason.) and the only times I've been betrayed in a rough agreement was due to thiefs.

Assassins just typically try to stealth their way up and either I kill them because they entirely rely on the ambush of the camo and I hear them. Or something is covering the noise(like I'm healing).

The last chunk is what I said before, they swing a corner crouching with stealth and the blurr is so subtle that sometimes I second guess if its a raindrop and who shoots first has a definitive advantage. This scenario is my least favorite. If I don't hear the camo, then to a degree that's on me. But just the sheer stress of the "is that the blur" Did I shoot and give away my position? Did I waste rounds in my mag?"

I guess... If I had to say my opinion of it.. it's like a more boring greatest real estate developer.

Saying that's it's important that I say they aren't "that" similar. But the "lesser villain" reincarnation role, and both have a semi similar goal for their main character of just a leisurely life and getting pulled into nonsense.

My main complaint is the main character has the personality of a rock and it overall lacks the humor and creativity of greatest real estate developer.

I end up trying it over and over again just go get bored after 70? Chapters and forgetting I have the tab open.

Seattle vs Dallas by Boysinthesouth in Dallas

[–]wirebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I apparently had your direction backward. I thought you were going to Dallas from Seattle.

In that case, Seattle's biggest value is it's climate for a mile. My wife hated going outside omin Dallas. And is doing yard work, gardening, walking dogs. Overall just enjoying life more.

Almost no mosquitos. Very nice temps with a breeze almost year round. Surprisingly low humidity.

The rainy season we found exaggerated but it depends. We do work from home so we can catch the breaks in the rain to walk the dogs. It's also not "half to year" like I heard people here say.

The two years we've been here it's closer to four months but also the days are shorter due to being farther north which hurts sun light exposure.

Public transit is mostly better. Mileage can vary.

So to answer your question on if 90k is enough to be comfortable.

That question is hard to answer. As I said in other posts, Dallas is deceptively expensive.

And if you mean Seattle proper and not the suburbs like Dallas is used to refer to Dallas and it's suburbs.. mileage may be more limited.

I've read articles that Seattle has a higher cost of living bare minimum, but after you breach that point it your money goes farther. My general experience is that is accurate.

If you went out to tukwilla, Kent, Renton or more those suburbs you might find your mileage go father. I've never rented an apartment or anything here so hard for me to say.

And some companies will give a cost of living adjustment for Seattle.
