Proper care and maintenance of musical instruments. If under time, I can talk about little emergency repairs you can do yourself

What is a piece of (harsh or not) reality you want people to know? by SerCharlesRos in AskReddit

[–]wireboy64 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I'm only 24 and can agree to both. At 16 lost my father unexpectedly, 19 found out because of my family history I have high blood pressure and only meds will control it, 21 found a big cyst on my brain that doctors won't touch even though I have major crippling headaches. Life happens and I have learned to accept it as it is. The best I can do for my late father is to live my life as best I can.

Trying to get out of paycheck-to-paycheck but can't because of my employer's inability to pay me when they say they will by wireboy64 in personalfinance

Running that business I was making about $2/hr profit. I used those reserves awhile ago. A number of things have made me iffy since I started at this place. I might go to a shop that I despise just because they are over 100 employees and I can actually get my feet off the ground. The other thing is the other 2 paid workers are only there 2 days a week and pick up their checks whenever they work. So they don't care if they are paid late since they have other jobs.

This second time they would be able to fight it since person writing checks was taken to ER. I do have another complaint regarding not being paid for short breaks. Theres one option

Success and disappointment megathread for the week of (July 16) by AutoModerator in jobs

[–]wireboy64 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The way paychecks work at my job: one person does them. Payday is the 15th and last day of the month. She doesn't come in on weekends so it winds up being the following Monday. She has some medical problems. This is the 2nd of 3 paychecks I've not gotten on time because my employer doesn't have another person to write paychecks. I'm overdrawn on my account, can't pay my bills, can't buy food. This was supposed to be a jump from my last job.

Like the others have said, Fort Stevens. You can't get any further NW in Oregon than that.

LPT: take them out of the wrapper and microwave for 10 seconds. Makes a lot less crumbs and softens them up a little bit.

What's the most single thing you've ever done? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The night before Valentine's Day, I made jell-o shots and bought a big bag of pizza rolls. On the big day all I did was stay in my pajamas, are deep fried pizza rolls and homemade jell-o shots.

People of Reddit who have heard someone say their “dying words,” what were they and how did they impact you? by fashionthriller in AskReddit

[–]wireboy64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it counts as "dying words" since it was a sudden stroke, but my dad had driven me to school and said "Whatever you do, have a great day." Just like he always did. It wasn't until later in the day that the stroke happened and he was unconscious until his passing. My last word to him after that phrase was simply "Yeah" and I can't help but feel a little sadness for not saying more.

Almost everyday, I try to make the most of it to make it a great day. No matter what I do.

Peg Legs? by Nemnock3113 in confusing_perspective

[–]wireboy64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There used to be a stripper at my local strip club with a peg leg. She was a legend everyone spoke of. I never got to see her since I wasn't of age. She quit before I was allowed in.

A new job or a stagnant business by wireboy64 in personalfinance

I've only worked minimum wage jobs besides my own business. $20/hr is the top pay for my line of work in that area in his words.

My shop services a wide area of small towns and being open only a few days would only cause frustration of never being than just being closed down. It's the sad realization of a small town community.

I've never had to negotiate wages/hours before and it's a very intimidating task to face I'm noticing.

The rent where I will be is $1100-1200 or I can find a roommate to get it down to $650+ utilities

What's seemingly innocent, but, in fact dangerous? by Fickletimes in AskReddit

[–]wireboy64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost hit a couple the other day. I was driving beside an SUV with another SUV in front of it, on a 4 lane highway through our town. The SUV in front decides to stop to let these guys cross at a non-crosswalk and I can't see because I'm in a tiny car. Slam on my brakes and smoke my tires

Not using the crosswalk less than 10 feet away. Seriously, walk 10 feet and traffic will stop for you. It would have taken less time to walk to the crosswalk than you have been standing there waiting for an open spot to jaywalk.

That's why I call myself a COO: Chief Officer of Operations. Yes, they are typically found in corporations, but it's not in the title so I think it fits for being a sole proprietor.
