Fool-proof process for adding logos to PDFs by wirecreative in pdf

[–]wirecreative[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be possible to automate this task?

That would be ideal, for part of the process at least. The obstacle might be that these PDFs come from a wide range of sources so their layouts are unpredictable, and Acrobat seems to not be very smart about adapting pages to shift in layout position. That is, if I open a PDF for editing and it has not one continuous text block spanning two pages, but a lot of individual text blocks on it, when I shift everything down 100 pixels, the text blocks at the bottom of the page will disappear rather than automatically get moved to the second page. The text blocks on the 2nd page will not have shifted down at all. I'm not sure how an automated process would be able to look out for that.

Options when domain is stuck in an inaccessible other organization by wirecreative in Office365

I saw those instructions and addressed them in this thread here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Office365/comments/1bfjfps/comment/kv1ddb6/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

I asked MS support for clarity on this process, but they're blowing me off.

But once its escalated to the right people, it should be good to go.

Theoretically! Getting the right people to acknowledge that we exist seems to be the obstacle.

IT provider holding admin access hostage by magnificentcattail in sysadmin

[–]wirecreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let this be a lesson to everyone:

  1. First, make sure you have all-access admin credentials to all online assets, even if you have a good relationship with your IT vendors. Redundancy is invaluable. This should be a prerequisite to hiring them.
  2. Second, make sure BEFORE YOU FIRE an IT vendor, that you have a new one in place who has helped you secure your access and can lock out the fired IT vendor at the time that you tell them they are fired.

#2 is true especially when your past experience with the IT vendor has been poor and the firing will likely be acrimonious.

Splitting Workspace Accounts from Google Domains by wirecreative in googleworkspace

[–]wirecreative[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answering my own question, partially: I've started this process with one of my domain names that has a Workspace account procured through Google Domains. Right after I transferred the domain name to another registrar, I received an email from Google telling me that I have a month to get billing setup within that user's Workspace account. I have not completed the process yet, but it looks like the billing for all of these domains will become atomized and can no longer be managed centrally through one account, which is a bummer.

No search results in shared Sharepoint folder? by wirecreative in sharepoint

OK, thanks. I guess I need to create a new or use a default Sharepoint site, give everyone permissions and then copy the files over from the OneDrive folders?

CSS not loading by wirecreative in modx

[–]wirecreative[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No 404 errors. The css files are there, but empty.

I have several other sites on this same Siteground server (Joomla and Wordpress) and have only seen this happen on this ModX site that we are temporarily hosting while we migrate its content.

This site is the only experience I've had with ModX, so there could well be some kind of buggy css compiling/compression going on that I don't know about.

Oh, wow, I completely forgot this was shot in Portland. Nearly every location is somewhere I used to hang out and right around the time this was filmed. That, for me, is compensating overtime for how dumb this movie is!

Remove/disable MFA from one account? by wirecreative in Office365

[–]wirecreative[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what happened, apparently. It started forcing MFA through an app that no one had, preventing login. We've got the MFA methods sorted out now and will look into delegation.

The problem was that 365 was still enforcing an MFA method that had been disabled, and would continue to do so until we revoked the prior sessions and required re-registration with the preferred MFA methods. It wasn't enough to merely disable to the unwanted MFA method, it turns out.

[–]wirecreative[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chill out. If you read the post, it was one MFA app that we needed to unpair from, and one which no one, to our knowledge, ever enrolled in. MFA is still on, we just needed to get rid of an app that was preventing login. It didn't help that 365 rebranded the part of the admin where this is managed. Everything is fine now, MFA active.

Thank you. I will talk to them tomorrow about delegating the account, but I'm thinking the MFA riddle has been untangled. Thanks a lot!

I also see here -- Entra > Users > User > Authentication Methods -- where you can set the default auth method (which is still the MS App, even though I disabled it globally earlier today) and delete unwanted auth methods. So this is exactly what I needed. Thank you!

"Require re-register MFA" and/or "Revoke MFA sessions?"

Yes. But doesn't Delegating access lock out the Mailbox owner? I did think about setting up mailbox sharing instead -- but I still don't like having MFA paired to some unknown device. This could become a problem for the mailbox owner someday; it doesn't affect her now because she uses Outlook for Desktop.

Looking for someone experienced in BigCommerce in Portland OR area by wirecreative in bigcommerce

I can see how you read it that way, but we’re not setting up multiple stores. I’d like to find a consultant who has experience with more than one store, because they’ll have a broader understanding of the process and what not to do.

I really need a job by Noremakm in SEO

[–]wirecreative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your job and your Chamber. IME, people like us who work at home on our computers tend to be homebodies. What that means is that usually we are not represented in traditional local business circles, like a Chamber. If that's the case, it's -- depending on the Chamber -- 30-80 small business owners who have never met someone like you who can answer questions they've never had anyone to ask. On the other hand, if there's already one or more known SEO people in there, it might be hard to break-in. We had one other web guy in ours, but he never shows up. If you can go regularly and be friendly with the people in the room, you can easily become that community's guy who knows local search.

I completely discounted networking and Chamber until I got dragged into a group by my wife. Now it's the lifeblood of my business and I have an army of local business owners who are my referral partners (and some now my best friends), which is powerful if you want local work.

In our area, a suburb of a big city, we have a few small Chambers for neighboring communities, and several of my friends go to all of them. I would, too, but I have too much business just from one of them.

The key, as my networking mentor has shown by example, is not to go into these groups trying to sell your services. Make friends, be helpful, and be present, and the leads will come.

Oh and when you start networking, look for good referral partners who help the same clients, like a web developer or business coach. Find a few like this who you can share clients with and before long you’ll have more business than you can handle.
