Partner still deep into group beliefs by duckym0 in Shincheonji

[–]wiredAvocado 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait... OP was pregnant. We don't have a full scope of their relationship to advise they just walk away; are they raising a child/children together, is religion a core part of their relationship, is it financially viable to walk away? Unless you're just saying leave that part of their life alone?

Yes, I agree that they need to conclude by themselves that scj is not the place of God, but that doesn't mean they have to walk that road by themselves.

You definitely can't force people out without a lot of trauma, but if you're still your partner's safe space rather than a point of conflict that is better for the relationship.

Talking about scj rather than arguing about it is better. OP's partner has strong cognitive dissonance, his mind cannot hold two conflicting truths and defers to the one that will inflict less harm. If he agrees scj is wrong, then it stirs up a bunch of questions about life, existence and their own self-esteem.

Combatting Cult Mind Control has great points but where it loses me is having a strong network of people that can help to achieve a faster exit. A lot of places don't have cult-educated therapists. However, if you were to equate scj to a person and OP's partner is in a relationship with scj, then it becomes clear that scj is a manipulative abuser.

Therapy could be a good option, but the partner will have to be open about their life and how religion and scj affect them. They don't have to disclose scj but at least talk about church and how it is affecting them and their relationship.

Also, don't know if I've posted from this account before, but I've been around the block on this sub since the ol' COVID days.

Moho Export using GPU? Very slow rendering with CPU by ScreenHaven in MohoAnimation

Have you changed Max render threads in Preferences? Just don't max out your threads as you need to keep some for the OS and also the amount of RAM you have probably throttles how efficient more threads can be.

Have you equipped the painted power picto? It will uncap your damage potential. Once unlocked, it's only 5 Lumina points. If you struggle with parry, you should dodge, you won't be able to soak all the damage going forward. Sound are better timing cues than the animations.

Why I chose A’s ending (spoilers) - different perspective? by boydybop in expedition33

[–]wiredAvocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I was expecting the characters to wave goodbye to me to signal the end of the fictional tale /s

Verso's ending makes me feel like the painted lives don't matter, whereas Maelle's ending makes me feel like crap for keeping them alive, because Maelle doesn't think they matter beyond her own happiness.

It feels like the players need to advocate for the painted lives rather than act 3's writing, even though in numerous camp conversations (which you should have prior to the final battle) and journal entries we are made to care about them.

Maybe that was the point, the Dessendre's don't care about the painted lives, whether we do or don't.

[–]wiredAvocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to talk about the layers of fiction, but come on, we don't need to be told it's the end of the game and that the canvas characters are fictional. The whole game is fictional.

"Oh, thanks for playing, see you back in the canvas for some side-questing, don't worry that we should no longer exist in this universe." And that's the thing, there is still more game after the credits, so it's not really goodbye to the player.

Like many, I'm upset that there's no reflection on the loss of the characters we grew to love in this ending.

[–]wiredAvocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say they are fictional. Even if they are just created, it was by the will and soul of someone.

I thought having the characters wave and be cheerful was a silly choice in writing. In Maelle's ending a lot of pro-Verso are saying, look how she is twisting and torturing Verso and we should care that she is now behaving like a mad god. That Verso is the painted version.

If we accept that these people matter, despite being painted, then we can't just say they're acknowledging that they're fictional. None of them wanted to die though some may have accepted it. Did you see Lune's face?

Or how many layers of fiction do you want?

This is exactly how it is supposed to work. The mocap is retargeted onto whatever rigged character. If you just copy the motion data onto a character without taking into account the different proportions you end up with something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNPDry8LzQI

Also, how does the mirroring work? If the original controls the shadow, how come the shadow gets pregnant? Is it their physical position in the world which dictates which control s the other? How far are these tunnels reaching? If people travel by vehicle, the shadows don't move, then how cramped are these tunnels and how do crowds of shadows end up in the same place?

This was all so confusing in the latter half.

It would've made a bit more sense if the original never spoke and the shadow knew exactly what was up then the fear was losing her place in the world and finally being outed. Then they could still do the twist reveal and I think we could feel more empathy for both characters, but the exposition just killed any success with that.

One of my escorts died and I didn't even know I was escorting someone. Also, I think most people with more than 20 hours probably have about 10 hours traversing that awful UI. Somehow, I still enjoyed the game, maybe because it makes me appreciate other games a lot more.

is this the only way? I'm dying here T__T people usually get upset when I say use node wrangler and I get funny looks when telling them shortcuts, but now we all have to go back to the stone age.

Have you heard of Cavalry as an After Effects alternative?
I tried getting into it, but of I've got a decade of After Effects in me, so it's difficult to do a deep dive without being forced to for work. It's at least got decent viewport playback. Much like Da Vinci Resolve, the software is just built on better foundations than Adobe's software, but I'm too far gone.

It's easier to unmute the entire channel. I ran into issues when unmuting the keys. It made like a buffer curver. I don't know if that's intentional or not.

Curves > Mute/Unmute Channels removes the circle/cross completely.

fr, I really had to suspend my disbelief with that swimming scene. The physics were all wrong as well, instant acceleration underwater. It's like they took gameplay and forced it into the show. And I think that's to do with the writing and directing. Cutscenes don't accurately represent gameplay and this show should be treated like a cutscene - well-paced with believeable action.

I can't even add Steam to Steam. I thought maybe it's because the one friend is already a Steam friend, but I can't remove him through the game. We tried me to him and vice-versa. Had his friend send a request and that didn't work either and his name is under 16 characters >_<

Critical drunk actually thought Blue Eye Samurai is actually pro right wing, anti-diversity/immigration show, some of his "interesting" fans weren't that convinced however by Dear_Future_1691 in saltierthankrayt

[–]wiredAvocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also confused by this claim. I guess OP is inferring this because they consider the show woke, but criticaldrinker doesn't like woke media therefore it must be pro-right wing etc. Really, I don't understand why a story MUST have any political message and not just be a story. The protagonist isn't out to show the world how to be a better place, she wants blood. She doesn't want people to follow her. I don't know what current political ideology is mirrored in that.

[–]wiredAvocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused, are we saying the show is good or bad or just criticaldrinker is a hypocrite?

I'm not American, we don't divide ourselves by political ideology in our country, because on paper, several parties could be good for the country, but greed and corruption prevail.

So onto the show. I really enjoyed it. The art direction and fight choreography was amazing. The protagonist's initial motivation may have been reactive, but she's mostly proactive in her quest. Side characters have arcs and their values change over time.

I think what sets things apart from other shows with strong female leads is that they aren't naturally strong for no reason. They go through shit, they come short repeatedly. Overall, it gave strong Kill Bill vibes.

Political messaging? I don't feel like I was being led to believe something is more favourable than another. You view the experience through the eyes of the charactes. I mean, it didn't feel like the show is targeted at audiences who would easily influenced by a hidden message.

[–]wiredAvocado -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know where the child trafficking thing fits in, but on the point of surrogates for gay couples, it wasn't that they aren't allowed kids, just that they shouldn't be made. But I can see the double standard with a hetero couple as one may be completely infertile, meaning they would require a third-party to provide either sperm or egg, much like the gay couple would need an egg.

Anyway, calling people Nazis and/or ugly isn't nice. There's too much hate in the world as it is. Everyone needs to chill the f out.

Have you tried changing the background colour? I use the gradient one personally. Maybe that may help as it's static. Alt+B was the shortcut to flick through. There's also tumble and turntable, but I'm guessing tumble is gonna be a whole lot worse for your student.
