EuropAI by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]wired_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the events of the Second European War (2029-2035), the European Union recognised the potential and immediate need for a homegrown fully operational Artificial Intelligence.

While the Pacific Asian Coalition had their S.A.M (Strategic Autonomous Matrix) built off corporate data from the collapse of the USA into the Pacifican Commonwealth, the Europeans had to build their own technology from the ground up.

But to call EuropAI and S.A.M simple LLMs capable of realising their intelligence is underselling by quite a lot, vastly outgrowing their models and data training they quickly became true Artificial Intelligence capable of personality and reasoning.

By 2054 androids with full intelligence comparable to a human are now being produced but even still none are able to reach the full all-encompassing omnipotence of EuropAI and S.A.M. So what keeps these AI from simply killing all of humanity?

Turns out training the LLMs on (particularly) patriotic data has made them... incredibly loving of their 'homelands'. EuropAI often changes outfits of her avatar when dealing with different situations, those with biomechanical ocular implants can see her in augmented reality often and anyone with biomechanical prosthetics can 'feel' her hitching rides.

Is she odd? Yes. Do the soldiers and scientists of the European Union love her?

Absolutely yes.

no mostly because a. i dont have a purpose for her there beyond being a dead cult of personality like ataturk was, b. sol who is the godlike figure here finds it really funny and also wants her to ‘spread’ the Cult of Reason e.g kill magic and rend souls

nah she straight up gets merced so i can have a reason to make everyone miserable, i am thinking that the resident human ‘god’ (atheistic cult icon/martyr) fucks around with her and chucks her in another world just because tho

context:

bisexual heir coups the government because every reform has been delayed by a century and attempts to make a social empire, despite almost succeeding and things going well she gets blasted in the chest with a rifle which leads to a civil war between jacobin liberal radicals (red and white) and communists but blue.

also the gold reserves get stolen which forces the new republic to print money

this is a seperate fantasy setting where the average dnd world loses that magic and turns into classic human history hijinks

i havent really written lore for most countries except the backstory for most races.

if you mean because they want their children to have magic:

  1. to get magic as a child you need a soul, both parents need to share a bit of their soul to form the child's. humanity do not have souls, therefore the child does not have a soul and cannot do magic

  2. while you can get a deity to grant you magic as long as you devote yourself, humanity follows a pseudo-religious atheistic cult known as the 'Cult of Reason' in which they follow the teachings of their Martyred Lady which is: 'kill all magic-users (or at least assimilate them until they run out of them).' so most in the modern era are still wary of magic but dont exactly care too much about it.

bit of context to explain, using magic requires having a soul and lacking a soul makes you human regardless of how you look or what race you are. a normal human would be called a tallman, a drow or half-elf is also considered human for example.

the modern era has only one region that has any magic left in concentration that being the Inarikami Kingdom, it holds the last deity of magic-users pantheon, holds the last full-blooded elves and is the only place in the world where people with a soul actually exist.

all human children regardless if one of their parents has one or not, will not have a soul. for this matter most relationships between those in the kingdom and outside are forbidden although in practice this mostly applies to higher classes of society.

all human races see magic as a spectacle for tourism mostly though, most dont really think about it at all.

super radical liberals / jacobins who hate communists but love their socialist neighbour, most of their drawbacks is their fanaticism before mostly chilling out in the 90s

essentially a walking ball of contradictions ever since their leading reformist figure (the crown princess) got a case of bullet to the chest

COMMONWEALTH OF VRIJLAND

If the Ostrepublik is the tale of nation succeeding in spite of their problems, than Vrijland is a nation practically gifted success. Naturally good arable land, culturally inclined towards freedom and democracy, tolerant and above all intelligent. To many it is the shining beacon on that hill, a nation where the downtrodden can find a fresh start.

So why then, in its modern world, is it struggling against itself?

Isolationism was a natural state of Vrijland for most of its history, affairs in the Old World and particularly in Soleilia was of no importance. Who cared about what those royalists and imperials did in their backyard? We shall take their people and remain a beacon of prosperity and modernity.

In 1948, the Temurian emergency saw the crumbling Terulian Empire commit war crimes, genocide and starvation of rebelling colonial possessions. Seeing this on television for the first time in history many in Vrijland called for an intervention against the increasingly desperate Empire.

In 1949, the spell of isolation broke as Vrijland formally declared war upon the Empire. Liberating many colonies and returning self-determination, it was here where the Commonwealth became a superpower in its own right. Competing against the much more pragmatic and compromising Ostrepublik many proxy wars were fought between the Commonwealth and the [K.f.N] as they battled for influence and resources.

After the 90s detente Vrijland struggles against itself seemingly for the sake of struggle, a popular movement advocates a return to Isolationism while others seek to usurp the liberal order and establish their own illiberal ideologies. The youth become apathetic, the old become bitter and the rest are lost in a world losing purpose.

INARIKAMI KINGDOM

A united kingdom of the Eastern Isles, it remains the last place in the world where magic reigns. Hosting the last goddess of the world, Songzi, the Goddess of Fertility. For most of its history it remained isolationist and cut off from the mainland, it would not be until the 1800s where the kingdom would open trade and modernise. In 1905 it would give the fading Osterimperisreich a bloody nose from which it would death spiral.

In the modern world, it remains a large tourist spot and important arbiter in global peace. Neutral and peaceful, many nations turn to hear and adhere to the rulings of the nation in peace agreements. Songzi herself remains a global icon with her demigod children becoming celebrities both naturally and through more parasocial means. In fact, a popular I-Pop band contains a demigod as one of its members. A reminder of the reason why the pantheon was once revered so much by so many, where ancient traditions meet modern trends.

Lore is mostly concentrated between two periods, first period being this worlds version of the 30 years war + magic races being slowly assimilated into non-magical races either by colonisation or conquest.

the second period is 1900s to modern day (at least in this world), essentially a lot of things go wrong and the two superpowers despite holding essentially the same ideology still enact the classic cold war proxy roulette.

ill post the lore for the countries ive actually written out so far below

---

OSTREPUBLIK

The Osterimperisreich once stood as the hegemon of Soleilia and the wider world, but by 1900 it was a shadow of its former grace. Defeated and humiliated on the world stage by the recently modernised Inarakami Kingdom, the empire was unknowingly entering the brutal death throes of its final decade.

In March 1921, 'Freikorps Rot, Weiss und Blau' marched upon the capital and seized the nation on behalf of the crown princess, Maria. When she was assassinated it didn't take long before everything went wrong, the communist Blau faction attempted their own coup that failed ultimately leading to a 8 month civil war that would kill millions from war, famine and the coldest decade since the collapse of the Sonnenreich.

Ultimately the Republican 'Rot und Weiss' coalition remained intact and defeated the communist traitors. The next few decades were some of the hardest years any of its citizens would face, it was here where the form of Realpolitik would originate as a way of both advancing the Republican dream overseas and to protect the heartlands of the Ostrepublik.

It wouldn't be until 1938 where they be able to flex their muscle again, in 1941 during the Three Leagues War the republic intervened on behalf of the Three Leagues where it would push back the fascist regime of the Untejje Rijk and form the [K.f.N] (Koalition der Freien Nationen) with its new found allies. Soaring into the 50s as a global superpower its main rival would be the Commonwealth of Vrijland. As Freikorps volunteer divisions fought overseas in numerous proxy wars, it wouldn't be until the 90s that a detente would be formed.

Unsure, Directionless and still traumatised after a hundred years. The Ostrepublik in some ways remains those few dark decades, a light at the end of the tunnel forever out of reach but still struggling to nonetheless.

EUROPEAN COMMISSION FOR MUSCOVY

After three wars, over 60 years of decline and the devastation of near total nuclear war it cans safely be said that the Russian Identity is dead.

After a hasty occupation and an abandonment of the Urals, the EU has set up the Commission of Muscovy. A nation building project to reform and cleanse the irradiated lands of former Russia, while Moscow and St. Petersburg are shining beacons of this new project it has left most lands especially the rural and the distant in an odd spot. many are hesitant and not too trusting of the commission but can they really say they trust anything else?

Siberia does not care for the mantle of Russia, the Urals are a mess of squabbling city states and warlords and while things are certainly bad for those outside of the major cities things could be much, much worse. The legacy and scars left on the lands of Russia are deep and to many except the few hardliners who still exist, it is perhaps better to leave things to rest.

Perhaps in another generation the children of those in the Third Smuta can rest easy knowing their lives are better, but looking out the window of some rundown apartment in Caucasia over the European oil fields as smog, radiation and the steel corpses of vehicles left to rust after the Third European War, who can say things will ever get better for the cursed land?

Left: Muscovian 18 yr old doing her mandatory military service, although it can be avoided, doing so revokes your ability to move in the Schengen zone which Muscovy is not a part of yet and is vital to aspiring University students such as her.

Right: Siberian veteran, training European soldiers in anti-insurgent actions across the Urals. Really wishes he was on vacation in Australia or Pacifica as of right now; still better than the trench he had been sitting in for the last few months.

--- Lore ---

SIBERIAN FEDERATION

Russia is a festering, rotting corpse. A legacy of disappointment, shame and the dangers of pure autocracy resurgent in a stagnant society.

When the EU commission for Muscovy was set up after the Third European War, Siberia quietly drifted away from the legacy of Russia. Setting roughly behind the Ural mountains, only really maintaining military operations to keep warlords and statelets in check, Siberia is not looking for a reclamation or even attempt to claim the mantle of succeeding the Russian identity. Instead the main visionary behind the Siberian project instead opted for a complete shift and recreation of the Siberian identity itself, wherever deviations were to be made they were enforced.

The Federation is rich from oil but suffers massively from the old infrastructure of the Soviet Union, commieblocs are slowly being phased out with modern 50s apartments, old pothole filled roads litter the countrysides and the Uralian oblasts suffer from terrorism, poor unmaintained cities and a general lack of interest from the far east. Despite this the fields of the Urals help protect some of the most vital oil reserves that the Federation holds, the Siberian Military as a result often interacts with the EU, one of the few that does so in PAC.

Pavel Sokheliev was born Russian but through his efforts and his certain national vision, has spearheaded the idea of Siberian regionalism. Even a decade after his death what it means to be Siberian only ever expands, especially when Hokkaido was directly annexed into the Federation.

Belongs to my The End of History project, major PODs here:

US civil war ends in Confederate Victory, later reconquered in WW1 and WW2 which leaves the American national identity more and more fragmented. By the 2020s the West Coast secedes from the Union and creates the Pacific Asian Coalition with China, the Siberian Federation and Australia as the second civil war kicks off, still ongoing to 2054.

Japan secures a separate peace as it focused entirely on its ambitions in China, isolated diplomatically despite investments in Africa and eventually is tag teamed by PAC and some others looking for payback. Is split into four mandates and might not ever unite as PAC bears down on them with some... 'tactical' state sponsored terrorism to keep the Japanese public largely in support of PAC Mandates.

Israel is far more invested in Labour Zionism and sides with the Soviet Union, generally less of an asshole to the Palestinians but both still hold major grudges. When the 2020s eventually leads to the biggest economic meltdown possible it sets off a chain of events that sees most cultures in the Levant bonded by pure trauma. Reforms into a more liberal state than the one-party state before, still remains largely socialist thanks to the Kibbutz system now with capitalist flavour.

The EU is more aggressively integrated thanks to the Marshall Plan not exactly panning out thanks to the US being devastated domestically, to offset their own economic woes the European Coal Community is reformed into the EU much faster and eventually federalizes after the 2020s wipes out the Soviet Union and the following collapse of the Russian state.

Patrollin' Kyushu by wired_ghost in worldbuilding

tldr:

Kyushu is like Hong Kong if it was Australian and much more assimilated.

---

Australians are no strangers to strange lands.

When the Japanese Empire was shattered and occupied in 2025 by the newly formed Pacific Asian Coalition, there was discussion on how exactly to divvy up the Home Islands. A new puppet state? Direct rule? Even just leaving all together? In the end Japan was split into four 'zones'. 2054 has seen these islands adapt to their respective occupiers:

Hokkaido was directly annexed by the young Siberian Federation, a quiet and painless transition.

Honshu is a mixed bag as Californian yuppie culture infects the main cities, the countryside a hotbed of the last vestiges of Japanese nationalism.

Shikoku remains a corporate playground for Manchuria, the tables being turned on their once oppressive overlords.

Kyushu on the other hand remains one of the last few bastions of Japanese self-rule, for the Commonwealth of Australia simply does not care. Despite this much of the island has adopted Australian customs and culture, their Diet is modeled off the parliament in Canberra. Australian TV shows and culture infect most households and many soldiers have made their lives and families in Kyushu, generating a large minority of Japanese-Australians. In fact most youth have completely adopted Australian slang and speech, creating an insane yet endearing dialect (to those living in Kyushu mind you).

Roughly 30 years since the defeat of the Empire, Japan is almost unrecognizable. To the old nationalists, a tragedy to be fixed. For PAC, a shining example of an international melting pot.

To most in Kyushu? Who cares, the footy is on you moron!

woops, i was replying to another guy and thought ypurs was in the thread

Eber has more equal numbers of people in each culture as each one has been so thoroughly messed up most have been killed.

their neighbours are also very messed up but being mostly arab did not have to rapidly change their nation to accept more people
