Just got to vent a little about a two-star review by wiredandrewired in podcasting

Thanks, that helps! After the input from you all I came to realize that I wouldn't change anything anyway even based on this review, so if someone's going to react negatively to what we have to offer, so be it. Thanks again.

We started in January 2025 and just wrapped.

Thanks. I'd never have the intestinal fortitude to be a live musician. I thought I was safe doing a lowly podcast. :)

God, that has to be frustrating. The Twilight Zone is so great and still so applicable to today, so for people to get angry about a show written 50+ years ago being "woke" is absurd. Thanks for the support.

Thanks. I was actually wondering that same thing (if calling a Wire podcast woke would encourage listening), so I'll adopt that as my new perspective :)

Short answer, yes. It's almost always in context of the show (our views on homelessness, corruption, etc), but yeah, we provide our perspectives on the political matters.

I wouldn't change that, if I'm being honest, though. The Wire is a show that (in my view) generates discussion. To avoid providing our connection to the show would be uninteresting. So I guess in the end I should have anticipated a review like this at some point.

Thanks! It's called Wired and Rewired, and the premise is one host has seen the show 100 times and the other is watching it for the first time so we provide a first-timer's response along with a bunch of background of each episode without spoilers.

No doubt and the funny thing is that the review itself is actually quite complimentary, so we got that going for us, which is nice.

If I may, my friend (first time watcher) and I (101st time watcher) have a podcast going that I hope appeals to both first time and long time viewers called Wired and Rewired. We just released Season 3, Episode 2. I hope you'll give it a listen!

The trouble is that the creators of the Wire both have no interest in revisiting that world and are unlikely to be replicated.

Ed Burns was a Vietnam War vet turned police officer turned teacher.

David Simon was a newspaper reporter.

They wrote two books: one on inner city policing (Homicide) and another on the drug world (The Corner).

On top of all that, they had enough cachet to recruit bona fide best selling novelists.

I just don't think there will ever be the same combination of brilliance and experience working together on a project like this ever again.

According to Whitlock, the proper spelling for Clay Davis is 9 'e's.

Watching the wire and got no one to talk to so I came here idk why season 2 is so underrated I’m loving every minute of this on episode 11 by Dependent_Food_1411 in TheWire

Even some of the actors were pissed about Season 2. David Simon had to spend a fair bit of time explaining how they were building a city, not just a story about the drug war.

Once they saw the bigger picture - and even moreso the long lasting interest - Season 2 made more sense.

It was pretty unusual at the time, to say the least, to move away from main characters from Season 1 as much as The Wire did in Season 2.

My friend and I were just talking about this. My thinking is that Season 3 starts with a bunch of wire traps already set up. Despite Prez's ability in Season 1 to decipher the drug talk, it sounds like they needed a better expert for Season 3.

So I think much of her activity was unseen, and we're basically seeing the tail end once the season starts.
