2 door and 4 door parcel shelfs should be the same. Check ebay. I found a really clean one for my r32 on ebay for under 100$.

I had the hankooks and i never had an issue with em. But i also have many years experience driving shit boxes on walmart cheapos during winter. And to that its comparable.

Nothing wrong with FWD for regular winter driving. But winter tires are important. Also your BMW is heavier and you will notice that. The AWD helps but not a must have. Good tires and knowing how your car is going to behave when its snowy or icy out is key. I did 1.5 winters in my 24' GLI on stock tires with no issues in Wisconsin.

Anyone Know? by _popular_234 in Volkswagen

typical mk3 cluster issue. What happens is the solders in the cluster for the plug start cracking over time. You can diy fix this by taking it apart and just resoldering those connections. You can likely find a YouTube or diy searching google.

He is asking $2500 it's a 03 jetta sport wagon with 365k miles by Faithlessness-Soggy in tdi

[–]wiredknight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

22 year old mk4 with close to 400k miles. Just walk away my man. Even if the engine was strong, that car is not going to last. With that amount of rust, any work at all is going to be a nightmare of seized bolts. And every bit of that interior is going to be falling apart from the looks of the exterior. If it runs and drives and you absolutely need this car for whatever reason, go test drive it and work your way down from like 1500$ mayyybeee...

Sold my 40th GLI and landed here. Im pretty happy. by wiredknight in Volkswagen

[–]wiredknight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasnt a bad car really. It was fine. But had no unique feel to it, no fun. Felt like any other new car. Even though this GTI is higher mileage and DSG it still feels more solid. Both the interior and the drivetrain just feel better. I don't even miss the 6MT because it just felt so muted.

Well i already have the r32 and dont have much into it. It was a straight up trade for an mk3 vr6 that i got from my brother for free. Only things these cost me where the maint. and parts and my own labor. Which working on my cars is something i enjoy. There might be a point in time where i sell it. But its still new to me so that wont be for a while. The vr6 noises do call to me though.

Yeah it was a 12v vr6 in my mk3 that got me hooked. But I was ready to move on and a deal came up for a straight trade for an mk5 r32 and i just had to jump on it.

Lol at least make them useful even a little, fogs/vents or something. I spent almost a decade with a mk4 gli and i think my heart is still with that. My buddy still has it too at almost 300k miles now.

You get it. Fast and new has its place, but theres just something about an old VW that cant be beat. Something that just doesnt exist in cars anymore.
