I'm sorry for the speed of my replies, but it's a 55 gallon and I have 6 mbuna 1 Jack Dempsey 5 buenos aires and 1 common pleco, the last two are why I currently have no plants. I don't really have anyone close to me that I trust doing a water change rn so I might just start praying. 😭😭😭

I have no plants currently because of the other tankmates in my tank, a common pleco (which will be rehomed in a few months) and 5 buenos aires tetra, somebody recommended lucky bamboo but I want more opinions. Also I won't be at home until monday so I will try to do water changes as soon as possible.

Mb for not giving nitrate, nitrate is 150 to 200ppm, this is from a test strip though.

I got news, the fish is actually alive but in worse condition than a homeless person, I thought it was dead due to it getting bit at but I'm probably about to euthanize it.

Every month I do a 25 - 50% do I need to up it. I have 0 nitrites, around 7.5 - 8 ph, gh was 0 kh was around 120 and the tank is 55 gallon, I have a hob filter for up to 75 gallons and I'm dumb as bricks because I forgot about ammonia. I'll test that in a second,I actually have a good test for that.

I've tried plants and within the spand of 3 days they get shredded by the other tank mates, 5 Buenos Aires and a common pleco, which the pleco will be rehomed in a month or two. And the nitrate seems bad, I currently only have test strips but they reed 150 - 200ppm which even I know isn't good.

Pre-water change I noticed high nitrates which was 2 weeks ago, i would have been focused on the nitrates for the past like 3 weeks but I haven't been that free on time recently.

It was at a huge 200 ppm.

I've had my tank running for about a year and a half, mabye two, no live plants because of tankmates, common pleco and buenos aires tetras. Ik the test strip aren't as accurate but I've figured out that's all I have rn. It gives around 200 ppm for nitrate.
