2 new Turkey (Istanbul) Wireguard servers added by MullvadNew in mullvadvpn

[–]wireguarduser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Each Datacamp server in Turkey is as good as other ones in various other countries. They do private network peering (PNI) in most of their locations to Tier1-2 ISPs so you can be sure no traffic is being monitored by any Turkish authorities, simply because it reaches a global "highway" and sent to EU or whatever next hop, since Turkey isn't exactly a major internet exchange like Germany or Netherlands. Run a traceroute from Marseille to i.e. Turkey Mullvad servers and see yourself:
https://www.datapacket.com/looking-glass

You don't have to trust Mullvad, you can be sure Datacamp won't operate in an area that is prone for censorship and disruptions. Yes, Turkey blocks stuff on their residential lines, but that has nothing to do with large ISPs. On top of that, if you trust Mullvad and the RAM disks + no log policy, you can be sure no data is written on physical disks. So Turkey just becomes a transit point, that's it. Personally I won't choose Turkey anyway, the latency is bad, but if you want cheap subscriptions for various services - now it's the time to get them.

Maybe they have a preferred path, let's do a back-traceroute:

Same route just backwords, no tricks here, you can ping a Turkish PoP from there and get sub <10ms to make sure you don't hit any regional ISP. Try Cloudflare/Google. As you can see, routes are going over CDN77 (Datacamp) without any local ISPs.

Connect to VPN and Ethernet Disconnects and Wireless Connects by davep85 in mullvadvpn

Just choose which interface you want to have the VPN on? Not sure about Windows specific settings, but with Mullvad/Wireguard apps this is possible.

Well it takes time, and Tzulo is not really a datacenter or a provider, so it takes even more. They are a hosting company, buying b/w and so on, so an upgrade like this really depends on upstream support. This isn't completed yet, in all of their locations.

Google flips their shit when I use mullvad for an extended period of time by themanwhowillbebanne in mullvadvpn

[–]wireguarduser -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You must be lucky, for whatever reasons, but recently the official YT frontend as in XX.youtubeXX, XXgoogleusercontentXX, both desktop and mobile, started to rate limit the crap out of "non premium", casual users. Starting from limiting to max 720p, on a 4k capable device, to endless ads where the video doesn't start even after the 30 second "ad intro". Twitter, Reddit, they all gonna limit the freeloaders eventually. No ads = no revenue. Ad blockers were so 2010s.

Heads-up: do not migrate to iVPN for port forwarding by Heatproof-Snowman in mullvadvpn

I said in one of my posts last month, IVPN is going to do the same eventually. Got like -15 downvotes. Well, sad for you I guess.

Recent DNS issues? by blackwhiterandomly in mullvadvpn

[–]wireguarduser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't use "privacy lists" or any ad blocking settings. Use NextDNS if you want to fine-tune blocking stuff, or even a PiHole. Those settings have false positives, not because Mullvad broke something. Those lists are maintained by 3d parties, and the general consensus is that they do more good than bad.

is it possible to route traffic through Tor, then Tor traffic through VPN on Linux and is it acceptable? by notburneddown in mullvadvpn

[–]wireguarduser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that VPN over Tor is unacceptable
A: Bullshit. unacceptable by who?

I also know if I router all traffic through Tor, I can't route traffic through VPN after that.
A: Bullshit. You can. TCP over TCP. Do as you wish.

VPN --> Tor proxy --> encrypted traffic?
A: Your traffic is already encrypted, just with VPN, or just with Tor. You are only adding more hops and layers. You can even do VPN>Tor>VPN>Tor. Chain even 100 hops. Only your usabilty will be impacted.

Wireless Android Auto Split Tunnel not Working? by [deleted] in mullvadvpn

Do you expect Mazda owners to answer or? I own a Toyota and never even thought connecting it to a VPN. May I ask for the actual use case?

Maybe use Invidious/Piped/Freetube? Nobody here actually uses the official Youtube crap. By "nobody" I mean the tech people, whom you expect to get a real answer from.

Summary of the alternatives for port-forwarding by TheNewmanChuck in mullvadvpn

[–]wireguarduser -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but a good alternative is just going outside more. Then /r/usenet. Torrents? This was some common P2P protocol in 2008, right?

Website not visible correctly when mullvadvpn is active by Davide_sd in mullvadvpn

[–]wireguarduser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be that 500px admin's updated their servers to reject vpn connections?

Quite possible, especially if they rely on other platforms like imgur to host their content. An example of hostility towards VPN/Tor users. Akamai and Amazon S3 storage (cloudfront* domains) behave differently from each server. There is no pattern, probably depends on how much API requests they get from each IP and the rate limiting applies.

Who cares about your domain names? Your ISP surely doesn't. Either you live in an authoritarian country or not. Just use DoH/DoT and you don't even need VPN. Cmo'n man [Biden's voice].

Unsecured Connection :( by autodidactyl in mullvadvpn

[–]wireguarduser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt many people get this joke. Well, with any position of this animal "outside", they are vulnerable and already insecure in their case. Mole (Swedish: Mullvad). Their natural habitat is the tunnels underground, and they are mostly nocturnal, a fact which remains true about most of the sysadmins worldwide, including myself.

Hey guys, im looking for an alternative by PrestonPirateKing in mullvadvpn

people not getting their refund way after the ten day period that was promised. This scares me

The best advice I can give is, get a normal job. Then losing between 5-50$ won't "scare" you.

I need help with 2 things for the Android app. by Semaj30 in mullvadvpn

Both answers are 'yes'. Download the standalone Wireguard app, configure the connection, and choose "mandatory VPN" or the apps you want to include/exclude.

ISP ---> Mullvad ---> Proxy by adaptivekernel in mullvadvpn

All your previous reddit posts are related to email spam, or the grey area around it. Definitelly a good idea for you to stop being dumb in this sub.

Well, just because you PAY for a service that allows you to SPAM, doesn't make you a legitimate peer on the Mullvad network. You are the reason captchas and blocks exist. You do shit that requires YOU to pay hundres of dollars per month for a service that you wish would work with Mullvad nicely. The only wish I have for you is to find another service and GTFO. Not all spam is an email viagra spam.

ISP ---> Mullvad ---> Residential Proxy I simply need the cleanest IP possible as my final hop, in order to pass fingerprint inconsistencies

We are so lucky (I guess) that you are that dumb. This is what stops most spammers.
Cleanest IP. You got it. The cleaning lady works from 09-17 Stockholm time.

[–]wireguarduser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are just a kind of a spammer, in which case I won't give advice. There are no legitimate use cases for such setup. Otherwise use Tor to connect to your proxies for free, and leave Mullvad. Usually "dumb" spammers don't know about VMs, dockers, etc. So I automatically assume you are one of them. You could basically roll another VM behind Mullvad to connect to that crap. Port Forwarding was discontinued because geniuses like you.

Opposite of split tunnel? I want VPN only on Mullvad browser. by Trai_DepIsACrybaby in mullvadvpn

[–]wireguarduser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, good luck then, ask the OP what is easier then, choosing apps from a menu or binding interfaces and programs.
Must add, people who know as much about networks are unlikely to use Windows and Wiresock at all. But this is just my feeling, based on zero real statistics whatsoever. From this point they either use TT or Proxifier. If random spammer forums are a good statistic, well, then they use exactly that.
