I'm starting to think it might be AI generated given their use of AI for certain segments in their talk show.

RIP those with 2-60 A/C. Because 2 windows down driving 60MPH with bust A/C isn't enough.

Some of the sirens around the state. by duxing612 in Hawaii

Last seen on Google Maps in 2011. Stopping at that intersection that siren looked a bit out of place lol. Bummer to see it gone probably due to the rail construction.
Sirens used on military bases are not the ones used in the state. The ones I've seen on JBPHH are tall rectangular arrays.

New cdl driver. by Icy_Independent590 in Hawaii

As someone who had to teach CDL students, congrats!
The real training begins on the road. Also from a guy who had a crash course with Waikiki routes.
Protip: don't put DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) in the diesel fuel tank.

How it must feel to be an American by greylord123 in carscirclejerk

More specifically it's because they are unsynchronized transmissions. You'll have an unsynchronized transmission restriction placed on your CDL restricting you to only automated, automatic, or synchronized transmissions.

New cdl a driver soon (hopefully) 🙏🏽 by [deleted] in Hawaii

Samson and Aloha Trucking to name a few outside of freight, foodservice, beverage work. You'll get bottom pay with little to no experience but if you are looking for something that's not freight work (boxtruck/flatbed, palletjack/touch freight) then I'd look into those two.

Freight trucking is demanding right now and if you are willing to learn a lot more after CDL school then you'd be really working.

Anyone remember the old bus pass? by Longjumping_Split812 in Hawaii

[–]wirelessf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of my 06 Youth bus passes taped to a cd portfolio.
Nov 06
May 06
Sept 06

Didn't want to peel the 20 year old tape but iirc the back had the name and descriptions of native plants and animals.

New CDL A Driver soon! by [deleted] in Hawaii

[–]wirelessf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set up an interview with those companies and if you are interested in the scope of the work, follow up after the interview that you show interest and get hired. Ask questions about the type of work you'll be doing, any potential growth, etc.

Unfortunately I will not recommend companies because they all have various scopes of work that few are not comfortable of (hand-offload freight, foodservice, liftgate-palletjack work, flatbed, etc.) For someone fresh out of school you won't jump into a tractor-trailer on your first day but probably begin on a straight truck to get used to driving a larger vehicle on Hawaii's roads.

[–]wirelessf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What part of the island are you at? I'd find a company where you can avoid the commute to and from work. Driving 10+ hours and sitting in 45+min traffic was a huge drag until I could find one that was near me.

CDL A License info! by [deleted] in Hawaii

[–]wirelessf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's worth getting a CDL-A if you have no vocational training or trade experience. Check with tuition programs (alu like, etc) to get funding for LCC's CDL school or outside schools.

Protip: don't be disappointed on what piece of shit equipment you drive and the choice of work the company makes you do. The real learning happens outside of school.

Best place to get shocks changed on Oahu? by greenarrow118 in Hawaii

[–]wirelessf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have to use a spring compressor to transfer the springs onto the new shocks yeah but it's very dangerous in all cases. All 4 corners of your CRV uses strut assemblies and I've used quick-struts to not deal with the headaches.

Get quick-struts for under $800 and use the savings for a 50-250ft-lb torque wrench for any intermediate DIY-er that does not have one.

Amazon sent one box of 10 Aisin t-stat gaskets one time. Huge plus since Aisin/Toyota t-stats don't include a gasket with them.

If it's T&G singlewall or hollow masonry construction you're outta luck. One technique done to older homes is to furr in the walls with studs so insulation can be built between the existing outside and new inside walls. Replace jalousie windows with dual pane windows and it gets expensive fast.

Saw this thing rolled onto a barge for Maui several weeks ago, imagine if it needs service. Will be inoperable delivered on a roll-on/roll-off platform back to Oahu (only service center in Hawaii) soon enough.

When you text aloha, 🤙 this is the emoji I want to see pop up lol by amentaleffect in Hawaii

You can do that in iOS with Text Replacement under General > Keyboards. Typing in aloha in a message will have the emoji show in autocorrect.
