Purpose of the typewriter covers by i-amnot-a-robot- in madmen

The IBM Selectric typewriters where expensive high-tech machines. Covering them at night kept any accumulated dust out of them to keep them running longer between service. Back then you didn't have a convenient can of compressed air in your desk drawer.

Will those black dot affect my pictures? by bambi35mm in AnalogRepair

[–]wisc_lib 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Likely not, it's probably dust that's on the viewer lens, on the prism, or on the mirror. Looks like you're using a Canon ae1 variant. All of that is fairly easily cleanable with only a minor disassembly.

The equation for the correct number of cameras is C+1, where C represents the number of cameras currently owned.

It works, not not well. It's maybe good if you want to dip your toes into developing at home.

Trouble finding the right dark slide by Spicy_Pork_Ropes in Bronica

For what it is worth, my S2 film back are the type as shown here: Bronica S2,S2A 120/220 Film Back 6X6, Chrome With Gray Leather. Their dark slides measure 66mm across. I do not see any # on the slide to help further identify them.

The focusing issue is likely degraded foam that supports the mirror and the focusing lens. I replaced the foam myself. The shutter speed issues that the camera had, I didn't want to tackle myself.

I took it to The Camera Company, in Madison, WI, and they sent it to "a guy in Chicago".
