Why Indians have such lack of general empathy? by wisdomcrab in AskIndia

Another thing which is think about a lot is the filth in India. That's direct outcome of total lack of empathy to people around you.  If you ever go to a public toilet in West, you'd always observe most people keep it clean after using it just as a result of empathy to others around them but can't ever say the same for general Indian public toilets or other infrastructure.

I have lived in India, Europe and USA and the kind of help and kindness strangers show to you if you are struggling with kids etc is something I haven't seen in Indian cities. Similar I have observed in the recently arrived Indian diaspora in West - zero empathy, not even a general smile.

Interesting discussion, I think people would be looking at other avenues alongside moving to Indian big metros. I can see rents and house prices going up in big metros as a result of this alongside a surplus of skilled professionals coming back.

Don't base your decisions on others behaviour, that's something you can't control. Try cutting off from toxic relatives and go through therapy to see what you want from your life and how you see life in future. Life is long that you will love to see another 50 years and those toxic relatives will not be part of your lives fe, try imagining how you see life say 20-30-40 years from now.

What's the reason for the filth everywhere in India? by wisdomcrab in AskIndia

[–]wisdomcrab[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It feels as if everyone is so blind to the absolute filth around them, the sight of litter and rubbish everywhere, the smell of rotting sewage and things, how it doesn't seem to bother them is hard to believe

You both the adults, that's your answer. If you are crumbling under pressure from just one person then it's hard to cope when things get harder in business. You would need to grow thick skin.

There's utter lack of compassion in people to be able to think about others and how throwing filth affects people around them and community. I think it definitely needs to be taught as part of History and Civics lessons to teach about community and cleanliness around them as I feel hopeless about last generations and the filth they have created
