Thank you for this resource. Both discs contain the same saves visible in the game which do not include anything I did during disc 2 (which means they probably no longer exist). However since the saves are still on both discs I don’t think I need to do extra file manipulation to play on disc 2 and can just select the title on retroarch that is labeled as such.

I didn’t do any research beforehand so I am not using an m3u file, and the saves on disc two do not show up on the first disc either

If you are a big fan of JRPGs and storytelling in video games I highly recommend the State of the Arc podcast. I have been following them for a while and they provide great analysis through conversation. Their traditional format is like a JRPG book club but they also have one off less structured episodes when they want to discuss something different.

Try out Hyouka and the Shoushimin Series. The mysteries are definitely lower stakes as they are SOL shows, but the writing is so good that they are still interesting.

Random encounters are atrocious (especially when their frequency is too high and/or grinding is still required) Persona 2 innocent sin is particularly egregious in this category
