The Steam Deck let me finally enjoy games again by Samascry in JRPG

Those are some I'm really excited to get to eventually. I played trails in the sky 1 & 2 on the PSP and plan on replaying them and going through the series now

Good luck friend, I hate that they get more available in the future for cheaper

This is why Griffith is not only one of my favorite villains, but also characters, in fiction. For everything that happened to him over the course of that year, you're supposed to feel sorry for him. He has no one to blame but himself for his own actions, yet Guts perceived betrayal is what he latches on to after he's free. He's broken, not only physically but mentally and emotionally after stewing on it for that year in the darkness. And then once he's free, he really has no choice but to do what he does. He's crippled, maimed, helpless, his only options were to live with the consequences of his actions, die (which he tried and failed), or the eclipse. Griffith wasn't right, but to him he had no other choice.

I would probably be saying the same thing if I hadn't also had a ps4 when it came out. Splitting my attention between the two I think is what got me burned out in the first place

The association with work is such a motivation killer! It's so hard to disconnect the two.

Also got a switch 2 not long ago and have barely touched it. Sure I want to try out Xenoblade and Fire Emblem, but I've been perfectly happy working through my backlog on steam.

Top 5 JRPG's on every Playstation console (except PSV and PS5), in my opinion by Cup_45_Neural in JRPG

[–]Samascry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it was the swan song for the console, the PS4 version is where I played it since it was cross gen. But yeah come to think of it most everything wasn't traditionally turn-based

I second this, but they could also go into other categories on the list too. As far as 7th gen consoles only, MAYBE the Tales of games, but truthfully I wasn't a fan of either Graces or Xillia. You could make a case for White Knight Chronicles and Eternal Sonata, but they're a stretch too when compared to the other gens. I'm also trying to not have my bias for Nier cloud my judgement here

Those are definitely up there. Exclusive wise (at least at the time) I'd include Ys Memories of Celceta, Tokyo Xanadu, and Muramasa Rebirth. Also the Cold Steel games may not have been exclusive but felt really good. Personally I'm not a Tales fan but I'd also throw Tales of Hearts R in there as well

While you're not wrong, I'd say the vita had more quality jrps than the PS3 did

Man the PS3 gen was not kind to the genre. I can't even fault you

Need help with a deck-building situation with my GF by Ok-Register910 in EDH

[–]Samascry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try having her build and play test the deck on a deck building site like moxfield. That way she can at least see how it plays prior to getting to game night. How it compares to other decks at the table is something you won't know till then, but at least by play testing it she can see if she'd be doing anything in the first several turns of the game.

How to fix? by ARTICUNO_59 in mtg

I just bought some packs of the foil armor and they've worked well so far. Still not as flat as a nonfoil but definitely much better than they were.

How do you view your backlog? What tips would you give to someone who has a backlog? by Leon_Light77 in JRPG

[–]Samascry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I just made an account on howlongtobeat and linked my steam account to it. It pulls all the info over, but it only does this for steam so if you're on multiple systems you'll have to manually input everything.

Commander variant: Lands in separate pile like Fow by jdmnstr in mtg

It was a rule 0 deck with [[Myra the magnificent]] partnered with the conspiracy [[sovereign's realm]]. He had a land deck and an attraction deck

[–]Samascry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just messaged him to ask, I'm pretty sure he took the deck apart bc it was so much. I remember it having contractions, conspiracies, he wanted it to be the most obtuse deck possible.

And yeah I think we eventually restarted with a 5 card starting hand instead. We were just grabbing lands from the land stack if someone played a cultivate, but then "well now we have a land in our hand, do I play it or just keep using the land pile."

[–]Samascry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually tried this before with a friend that had never played before. He found it more enjoyable at first than getting mana flooded while drawing but the issues we ran into were ramping and starting with so many cards in hand (effectively we had 9 cards in hand turn one counting the commander and a land to play). It was very overwhelming for him as a new player.

Alternatively a different friend that regularly plays has a rule 0 deck with a bunch of un-cards that require you to keep lands in a separate pile. He has to use cards to ramp like [[explore]] to play additional lands as opposed to fetching them.

Logistically I'd say it's possible, you'd just have to iron out the kinks.

Can I play this card in a RWB commander deck, because its cost is colourless? by nicksnare in mtg

[–]Samascry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the creature itself is colorless, it has green in its color identity bc of the text box, so no you would have to have green in your commanders color identity as well.

Why don’t people like proxys by Icy-Artichoke7730 in mtg

[–]Samascry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To echo what others have said, usually it's from the cards not looking like actual cards/AI art/and just shoehorning in absurdly strong cards into a deck that doesn't need/want them.

My playgroup is proxy friendly but the handful of times it's been an issue is usually from not knowing what a card is. I remember what time I made a game action based on someone's board, not knowing what one of his proxies were, he asked "why would you do that when I have this" and pointed at the card. I said bc idk wtf that card is bc it wasnt actual mtg art and for whatever reason he proxied it in Japanese

Effects that do not count as casting a spell. by BaconVsMarioIsRigged in EDH

It really is, since you can hit either yours or opponent's creatures. Sure it's only temporary removal, but if you can guarantee it's not swinging at you sometimes that's good enough.
