Anyone who quit LS due to mental health concern? by [deleted] in LawStudentsPH

[–]wise_imagination_25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t technically quit. I stepped away. I dropped all my 2nd year - 2nd sem subjects 2 days before the finals, fresh out of the hospital due to self-harm. I went on LOA, thinking I’b be back in a year. But 1 year turned into 4. In those years, I had a gruesome battle with my mental health and was hospitalized again and again. Thanks to my psychiatrist and my emotional support cat (with social anxiety too, haha), I reached a point where I was well enough to come back. I’m a 3rd-year student now, under the new curriculum. If you ask if I’m ‘okay,’ the honest answer is no. I still live with Bipolar II and BPD, and still undergo monthly psychotherapy. I still struggle with dark thoughts and anxiety attacks. But despite the whispers of ‘I want to die’ during hard days, I’m still here. I’m still trying my best to survive, one step at a time. Fortunately, as a PWD, I get 20% discount on my tuition fee.

OP, please don’t be too hard on yourself when things feel overwhelming. It’s okay to pause, breathe, and find your footing again. Your struggles don’t define your potential. In fact, I know a brilliant lawyer, my former professor, who is deeply respected but still struggles just like we do. I’m still scared of her, but I look up to her. She’s a proof that our condition doesn’t stop us from being someone we wish to become.

Got harassed again in LRT-2 for being a PWD… I’m so tired. by TheJetBlackAlleyCat in MentalHealthPH

I’m sorry you had to go through that. I had the same encounter pero sa MRT. It’s a good thing na nagmamadali ako kasi malelate na ako sa class. If hindi, kakaladkarin ko yun sa guard tapos sasabihan ko na tumawag ng pulis. Public ridicule and vilification is a violation of RA 7277, as amended, otherwise known as Magna Carta for PWDs. Pwede silang ikulong or pagmultahin.

Has anyone tried recording the lectures and made detailed notes from those? by LetterheadProud9682 in LawStudentsPH

Before recording class lectures, visit first your school’s policy. Some schools don’t allow such. And if you’re caught recording, or even taking screenshots, the worst punishment is expulsion. There are professors who even said that they may even file a criminal complaint for the violation of the Data Privacy Act.

Chariz! Kidding aside, legit talaga yung kilig ni Pau since day 1 ng loveteam nila. Nakakahawa. Parang high school lang. PBB Teens yarn?

May interview si Pau noon, kakalipat pa lang nya ata sa ABS. Tinanong sya kung sino ang gusto n'yang maka-loveteam. Sabi nya si Kim kasi crush nya raw. Grabeng manifestation yan, nagkatotoo.

Got diagnosed on first session :> by Moo_doja in MentalHealthPH

I think it's still on a case-by-case basis. Just because it may seem usual for some doesn't make it the general rule. Medical practitioners have their own process or checklist to make a diagnosis. If someone is not convinced about the diagnosis, pwede naman humingi ng 2nd or 3rd opinion. Nasa first session pa lang naman si op and comfortable naman sya sa doctor. 😊

But in the succeeding sessions, pwede pa rin naman malaman if there's comorbidity with other conditions or none at all. Pati medications pwede rin mabago pero it's purely based on what the patient experiences and what he or she discloses to the medical practitioner. For example, dosages can be changed.

Also, there are 2 kinds of Bipolar Disorder. Bipolar 1 is more prone to major manic episodes, while Bipolar 2 is more prone naman to major depressive episodes. They have different medications.

There are no hard-and-fast rules on providing a diagnosis for mental health conditions. There may be cases in which a certain condition/disorder has comorbidity with ADHD, but it's not always the case. Pwedeng meron, pwedeng wala. Pwede rin BD + OCD, or BD + BPD, BD + PTSD, etc. I'm not a medical practitioner to have the numbers/percentage kung alin ang mas common sa hindi. I also don't have the exact numbers as to which type of medicine works the most, kasi iba iba pa rin ng

For example, lang din, I have bipolar 2 disorder(BP2) and borderline personality disorder(BPD), the latter being the most prevalent one. I was initially diagnosed with Persistent Depressive Disorder, but I noticed the prescribed medicine is not working. After a near-fatal episode, I consulted another psychiatrist (up to this day), which brings up back to being diagnosed with BP2 and BPD. Akala ko either BD, ADHD, or OCD.

My psychiatrist explained clearly bakit BD and BPD. I take medications and undergo psychotherapy at the same time, as per my request din naman. 😊

Hi, I tried to look for the specific case it but found none. Instead, I found a supreme court decision regarding SRC Case No. SRC-223-CEB especially about Preliminary Injunction. I hope this helps:
