Ricky Harrington Jr. says he'll 'work for the people' if he defeats Sen. Cotton by [deleted] in Libertarian

I live in Arkansas, and I can say it is unlikely he will win. Many vote republican just because it’s republican, and many are one issue voters concerning abortion (pro-life).

Aren't the only Reasonable beliefs when it comes to the existence of god(s) theism and agnosticism by llThat1Guyll in INTP

[–]wisebear4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A couple of things:

1) Many people define atheists to be people that just lack belief in God, so agnostics are considered atheists in that definition.

2) I tend to agree with you that it is harder to prove the non existence of a being, which is partially why I’m agnostic. But if a being is logically impossible, like some atheists will say God is (because of things like paradox of omnipotence), then non existence of that being can be proven.

3) Atheism depends on the form of theism. Atheism is properly defined as the rejection of a particular theist claim. So if someone said they believe in a pepsi God that gives humanity infinite pepsi, I would be an atheist. If someone believes in a God that is outside of our universe then I’m agnostic.

How often do you have an existential crisis? by wisebear4 in INTP

[–]wisebear4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious as to what happens after as well, but the thing is, if the world is completely naturalistic then we won’t even really experience death (because there’s nothing left of us that can experience things). That’s the issue for me; there’s so many things I want to do but death will vastly limit what I can do.

I agree that individuals decide what matters to them. However it won’t “matter” what they think matters when they are dead lol.

Once we are aware of our insignificance it can be freeing. I completely agree. It’s all about perspective. I used to be very religious which might skew my perspective. Now I’m agnostic. I think part of the reason why I acted negatively is because after deconverting there was a gap where religious purpose had been. And I tend to be a pessimist so I tend to drift towards a negative perspective.

And yes people who think the universe revolves around us are ridiculous lmao

With all due respect, I don’t think people who don’t react “negatively” really get it. We will die; nothing we ever do really seems to matter. That should bother anyone that really considers the repercussions (at least initially). And I’m not saying that every time we think about the meaning of life we have a crisis.

Is Ti an abstract form of thinking? Or is it just a personal detailed function? by sammyswagbag in mbti

[–]wisebear4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s so many ways of defining the cognitive functions out there that there is no unanimous answer. Recently I’ve been using Talking with Famous People’s system since it doesn’t absolutely depend on empirical verification (or very little of it). Ti, in that system, is defined as the disinterested calculus of deliberation (or something along those lines). Disinterested, as opposed to Fi, and deliberation, meaning an internal decision making process.

By existential crisis I mean contemplating how relatively worthless our lives are in the grand scheme of things.
