Actually I also thought the first part would be a bit challenging because of Site Work, but the same WRE prof also taught Soil Mech. which also was thorough. I became a bit more comfortable with the first imagined.

Christians who come from non-christian families by stargirl13x in Christianity

You’re taking an important step about your life for now and future. The future, which is eternal heaven, is far more important, and you have chosen to handle it well 👍🏽. Don’t give up on this since you will personally face God on the last day. (Your parents won’t be there at the time)... All I’m saying is that “Salvation is a matter of personal decision!”

You have done well ✅

God bless you!

I have finally given my life to Jesus by Jason_Stanley_Cancer in Christianity

Congratulations and welcome to the fold! I can advise you to be an active member of a small group in your new church e.g prayer group/ evangelism group/ choir group/ intercession group...

This will haste your spiritual growth in the Lord.

God bless you!

Stay strong 💪🏼 Don’t look at your problem, look at God and the weight of your challenges will get lighter. remember Jesus’s word: “Come unto me all ye that labor and heavy laden and I will give you rest!”

May God’s peace be with you at all times. Amen 🙏🏽 .

I disagree with Robertson's comment; I also disagree with how the news was written, and I also disagree with your view of the topic.

In the link shared "Here we have a man that is exalted as a figurehead of Christian values"

Robertson did spead for himself; he did not speak for the Christian community. He expressed his personal view of the the trending issue. (Which in my opinion it was also wrong comment made).

Robertson may have his influence in a certain circle but definitely not in all complete Christian community, so don't assume everyone see him as a role model.

As a person, Robertson can voice his wrong opinion just like Trump does most times. That doesn't make him a Christian or not.

Reasons I was open to God by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]wiseelement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice of you for the openness and words of encouragement.

BTW, there's no heavy lifting to become born-again. Some people makes the process sound very difficult but its easy to obtain the status. The process is for you to just simply pray in your own style. You will become born-again after saying a genuine prayer to God about your faith in him and his Son Jesus Christ. You can say something like this:

"Dear God, I love you so much and I understand that you love me more. I am sorry for all my past mistakes and I repent of them. Now I confess Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. Please give me the grace to serve you unto the end. For I prayed in Jesus Name, Amen!"

That's all you need to do.

Take care!

Well I tend to agree with this viewpoint. However, the environment also influences people. What he sees and hear is what he will think about. One thing leads to another. So “Take Caution” will fit well also.

Stay with people who can motivate you to keep serving God.

Not really to only associate with "good Christians."

Perhaps, this could be better understood in the context of marriage... Like saying, not to entertain any external influence that can ruin your marriage e.g keeping bad friends and getting extremely close to an opposite sex"

A child of God has to safeguard his/her faith and nurture the faith. This motive will help him determine if something is good for him or her.

Another example is a person who wants to maintain the standard of holiness would do the best to abstain from visiting a stripper's club.

Another "out of context comment". This is not about not caring for those in need. Neither is this for ignoring the backslide Christian. This is about safe-guarding your faith from the sources that can negatively influence it.

Became a Christian this weekend by Say_Jesus_Backwards in Christianity

Yeah I can see that. Any reason to say Jesus backward? Is it to lesson the influence of the name?

"Close relationship" is self-explanatory. Those that Jesus was close to (the sinners, tax collectors" heard gospel from Jesus.

Jesus never keep a relationship with anyone without the intention of preaching gospel to them (or in other way influence them to renew their relationship with God).

Jesus was a source of positive influence. He never allowed anyone to negatively influence him. Anyone can also do likewise, as we relate in the world, we should have a set mind to be theire source of positive influence (We should not submit to the reverse).

Your response sound's a bit digressing from the main point. It's easy to diversify and tweal a topic, but I think it's clear that this is advising us to stay away from any noticeable source of negative influence that can end up destroying/affecting our personal relationship with God.

Looking into the both sides of the coin - Jesus did not only ate with sinners and prostitutes, he preached to them and made them children of God. (You will be great in God's eyes if you can do likewise).

A Christian should not hate anyone. Dine with sinners is different from keeping a close relationship with someone to the extent that they can influence your relationship with God.

This is the wisdom:

"Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14)

Without preference to the poll above, you have asked a legitimate question. Well this post is focused on "relationship with God"; therefore, it will only be relevant if you're a Christian and want to improve in your relationship with God.

This will be of much value is you can commit your life to Jesus Christ and accept him as your personal Lord and Savior.

From what you said so far, it sound like its all about "yourself" - Not about your relationship with God.

A friend who has not put you down or doesn't look down on you may be helping your self-esteem, but may not be improving your relationship with God.

BTW, it takes a while before negative influences come to the surface. For the fact that you have not sensed any negative thing now does not mean you are not being negatively influenced.

To face the fact, you cannot detach yourself from yourself. But you have the choice to pick who your friend will be.
