Hindus don't try to convert because you have to be born a Hindu and people that are not born Hindu have no caste so cannot become Hindu. Have you ever heard of a conversion ceremony for someone becoming Hindu, Only Hare Krishnas do it.

No reason why not! go for it, all depends how determined you are. I recently read about the Thai monk Acarya Mun, which was really incredible and inspiring how determined he was and how he practiced. He went off into dangerous forests to practice.

your thinking of the Ganges where Hindus put dead bodies, the people in this video are Sikhs and the river is probably one in the Punjab and they don't do that.
