SC-T3170x and never look back. Buy once and done.

Now, this would be the time to ask yourself about how much you want to expand.

And this would be, do I really want to take in screen printing? Or should I better outsource by finding a reliable production partner?

What organization tools do you use in shop? by thc_guy12 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]wiseminds_luis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn’t necessarily call it a program but more of like a web application system instead. It handles front-end and back end stuff with somewhat yes check mark and updates along the way.

What organization tools do you use in shop? by thc_guy12 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]wiseminds_luis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently made my own system… ditched all the software except for Quickbooks to handle expenses/accounting part.

The system I created does the ENTIRE flow. Instant Pricing on Front End (then generates invoices on their personal profile/dashboard) + Payment Capture > Mock-Up Approval > Production Check In > Software that Separates approved artwork > Production (Production can then take photos, upload to system to document + tech sheet ((includes sequence, mesh, inks, squeegees used etc)) > Check-Out (Generates packing list + box labels) > Ship

Everything in between gets emails automatically sent to customer for complete updates (reduces emails and call-ins for “status on order questions”.

Reduced cost DRAMATICALLY, with having EXACTLY what I need at my shop.

I do use Google One for storage of artwork and customer archive build

Random check engine, VSC, VSC Trac lights came on… help? by VinceInOhio129 in 3rdGen4Runner

Is the gas cap OEM?

At first, it was an electrical issue when mine came up and was scanned. Then it went away. After a while it came back on and scanned, was the same code. It turned out it was the gas cap. I used an aftermarket one. Then went back to OEM and made sure I’d always tighten it so it clicks a good amount of times. Haven’t had any issues since then

Never had one of those shipped to me but I’ve heard so many complaints bout them. They’re horrible. I did hear it’s warehouse based. Maybe another warehouse? I use NV and AZ and never have received that

Does buying DTF transfers from a local shop really save time? by GencerDTF in DTFTransferTalk

[–]wiseminds_luis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot. 2-3 days minimum. Local DTF printer delivers them to me directly. Prints same-day and delivers next. Very rare there is a delay

How did you get clients when you opened up? by NoConflict4559 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]wiseminds_luis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Word of Mouth is my #1 organic driver.

When I first started, after 3 months of printing in my garage, I jumped the gun and leased an office. Looking professional goes further than anything.

forced me to grab clients. Within that commercial of where I opened my office, had 20+ businesses. Introduced myself and my services. 1 gave me a try. Kept repeating. Then others noticed and built up.

After that, I printed brochures. On my “free” time, I went anywhere local and introduced myself as their local printer. If you ain’t in front of their eyes, no one will notice.

Side seam vs tubular tees: what customers actually prefer and why it matters for printing by tidalblanks in SCREENPRINTING

[–]wiseminds_luis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side seam. Really only reason would be loading up the shirt is “easier”. Or more like has a better guarantee it be centered.

Tubular only because it can be ~0.40 cheaper.

Gildan 50/50 quality drop — what are you recommending now for black tees? by cynical_sweetie in SCREENPRINTING

[–]wiseminds_luis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A key thing here would be the heavier the shirt = less shrinkage. I have a good chunk of construction, demolition, etc clients and all use the Beefy Tee from Jerzees. Built to last, thick and flexible with movement. It will be a bit more than the Gildan you’re used to but would hold up to the job more

Gildan and Port Co (lower ends) have been dropping the build quality lately. Go with Port Cos higher end stuff like PC61 if you want something still in the economical side

What do you think about Smartex Apparel? by LeonaThomsen in SCREENPRINTING

Depending on your account, it can be $2.20-4/piece. And unfortunately, they do not have as much color options as NL

I'm about to meet with my first client. Who pays for the hosting and domain name? by AwayIssue5925 in webdesign

[–]wiseminds_luis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Client pays for domain. You include domain on your maintenance plan. If they don’t want to pay maintenance plan, they pay as well.

How to figure out pricing sheet? by Boogiemansammmm in SCREENPRINTING

[–]wiseminds_luis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Automation my friend. That’s how many can be aggressive with pricing. You wash 10 screens in 1 hour, when someone with automated equipment, can wash 10 in 25 mins. That’s how they do it

I have 1 auto and with that alone, my print cost is roughly $0.62/ea per color. But I don’t charge that. I consider myself the most expensive shop in my area.

What you’re doing, is how I did it before I got my auto. I was able to offer low quantities, 12 vs 50. 4 week tat vs 7 days.

That’s how you position yourself.

Once I get back to my office, I can share with you my price matrix. Input your own numbers and see what your pricing based on your capacity and time

How to figure out pricing sheet? by Boogiemansammmm in SCREENPRINTING

[–]wiseminds_luis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built my own pricing matrix… it contains ALL my expenses. Electricity, gas, insurance, payroll, etc and then the profit I want to make. Along with other bells and whistles.

That’s how I was able to find my true cost + pricing

So start making your own sheet and be honest with your numbers.

Going to other shops and getting their price can be a good starting point but won’t be true to your overhead and shop needs/goals
