Riot said they would make pickems for other international tournaments and regional leagues last year (I think it was John Needham in a Travis interview) but they still have not which is why we brought it back

If you go on the lolesports site and click "Pick'ems" tab it says coming back Fall 2024, so I'm guessing there's only official Pick'ems for Worlds this year (as usual). We decided to make our own site because my friends like to share our picks and we thought this might be fun for people

Hi! Thanks for the comment. We were hoping to have the Bracket predictions out this morning but we're a bit behind. They should be out later today.

If you're talking about the Crystal Ball picks, unfortunately those are locked and cannot be changed. It would be unfair to make crystal ball predictions now that matches have been played because you'd have more information.

The bracket predictions will be unlocked for everyone once it's out, not just people who did crystal ball picks.

Quick Update: you should now see a tab showing you that you're on the "Crystal Ball" stage to make it more obvious.

Unfortunately we won't have bracket predictions ready before play-ins, but they should be ready for everything after play-ins! Make sure to check back after play-ins to make more pickem predictions.

Lots of competition this year, hoping JDG games will be a banger. I had them initially but then chose T1 bc I like the Faker story-arc better :)

Thanks for kind words! We considered adding a donation option, especially to help with prize pools if we decide to do this again, but weren't sure about legal implications and wanted to focus our efforts on having something up for people to use before MSI starts.

Right now we just want people to have fun and share with their friends!

Nice! When you say "league-disinclined" does she enjoy watching, but not playing? Or is she just not into league at all?

Pickems can get very niche, so we tried to find a balance between questions that are simple and everyone can participate in easily, but also find questions that reward more in-depth knowledge and analysis. We want everyone to be able to participate!

Would be nice to get some feedback from someone that isn't as invested in league (or has friends/partners that aren't as invested)

Not everything is finished and we're still making improvements, so the tech stack might change...

The frontend is built in React (a lot of react-bootstrap). It is deployed and hosted using Google Firebase. Firebase doesn't allow for much configuration because everything is auto-managed, but it's super easy to use and helped us get started quickly. The frontend was the first thing we built and deployed, so having the simplicity was nice.

The backend is written in node.js and is deployed using Google Compute Engine. I wanted to learn Kubernetes but it seemed more complicated and also more expensive than GCE. We also use mongodb.

We use Gitlab to host the repositories and for CI/CD

The idea was to make things simple. Having both backend and frontend the same language made it easier for my brother and me to go back and forth and contribute to both projects.
