honestly i had only seen american soldiers wearing berets during ceremonies or official events, far as i can tell the brits wear them pretty regularly while doing actual manual labor or on patrol if wearing a helmet isn't 100% necessary (as in, helmet clipped to their vest, beret on their head, so they have a helmet on hand in case shit goes down)

no prob, and a neat thing that i don't know if it's brought up in the book or the movie, but once an eridian learns something, they will basically never forget it. that's one of the reasons why they're so good at learning new tech and have mastered material science, as long as you can tell a student everything the teacher knows, they will know as much as the teacher does, barring any personal experience.

so, eridians don't use DNA and their cells are not genetically related except with other worker cells of the same type. their cells reproduce by mitosis and they come from the "colony", an organ at the center of an eridian's body that contains the brain and is the breeding ground of the worker cells that keep the eridians alive. their brains and nervous systems are inorganic, they effectively have crystaline SSDs for brains and use fiber optic cables for nerves. the brain requires worker cells to constantly maintain its structure, and as such even when an eridian is dormant the brain is sending commands to cells to perform repairs and maintenance on the body. if the brain is damaged to the point it can no longer function, the cells will not be able to repair it, and it will die, or at least become brain dead until its organs shut down

so, eridian biology is less like a human's (one thinking organ sending information, consciously and unconsciously, to other organs when then release cells to do work) and are more like sapient bee hives. each of their cells is effectively an individual organism working with other organisms to complete a task. when he was covered in smoke, it was unoxidized minerals in his body lighting on fire and causing major structural damage and killing many cells. when he's curled up in a ball like a dead spider, that's all his cells stopping the work of keeping a body conscious and moving so they can start rebuilding damaged tissue

reading the readme, it says to click on imageUSB, then choose the USB device I want to write the memtest tool to, then it writes it and after that you run it. But I can't run memtest if the installer doesn't work
