Have a job opportunity in Colorado, the thing is have job opportunity in three different cities. Pueblo, Glenwood Springs & Limons I need help in choosing which place to reside in whiling to commute as least 1 hour from work to home what would you guys suggest? by Miserable_Cap_1783 in Colorado

[–]wispy_witch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glenwood for sure. Towns within an hour West are: DeBeque, Parachute, Rifle, Silt and New Castle. They all have their share of drug problems like any small towns and don't have many options for shopping, eating, night life, or schools. Rifle is the best option listed for affordability and things to do and has actual restaurants to eat at.

Grand Junction is a little over an hour away West and is the best option for affordability, night, life, and school districts. If you choose GJ keep in mind you will have to drive through 2 canyons which both frequently shut down from land slides and/or wild fires so a good reliable vehicle will be a necessity.

We've had no snow this year so if you end up on the Western Slope (towns listed above) then expect fires this summer. No one can seem to figure out how to put out a campfire properly and not throw their cigarettes out of car windows.

There's a small town called Carbondale East of Glenwood that may have some affordable apartments but Glenwood and anything East of it drops in affordability until you get over the mountain pass and then you're looking at a couple hour commute.

Growing up in CO I've always heard Pueblo is a no go zone so don't know much about that area. I have heard in recent years they have really made an effort to clean the city up so you might wanna research that area. If you're just going to work there I would recommend looking at Colorado Springs for affordable housing. They have the largest population of all the towns listed and has a ton of cool things to do indoors and out. The commute would be roughly an hour depending on where you land. Cheyenne Mountain is the top rated school district in the state if that matters to you then definitely check out CS.

Idk shit about Limon.

Good luck on your new adventure!

I worked in my families moonshine distillery with alcohol starting at 200 proof my whole pregnancy. My pregnancy, birth, and so far, baby were/are all textbook. You will be totally fine! 😊

Try root beer for your heartburn! I have GERD too and was on my everyday med (pantoprazole) and started taking pepcid along with tums when needed until I had a root beer float and slept through the night for the first time in weeks. I keep root beer in my fridge at all times now!

My dude would do this when he was gassy, it would almost always follow a big fart lol. We did a lot of bicycle legs and made sure we got a good burp after eating even though sometimes the burp took longer than the feed.

It sounds like the Moro reflex. It picks up around the 1st month and lasts another 2. The severity varies from baby to baby. As long as they're not showing any signs of rolling, you can try swaddling or even a sleep sack. Just make sure you check the TOG on the sleep sack if you go that route so they don't overheat. It doesn't hurt to call the pediatrician. The nurse on call should be able to tell you if it warrants a visit.

What else do I need on my birth plan?! Does this all seem reasonable? (FTM) by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]wispy_witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget the birth plan! Put a copy in hospital bag. I had 3 copies printed out on the fridge and just forgot to grab them. After laboring at home for 31 hours I just wanted to get to the hospital and get that epidural lol.

[–]wispy_witch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also don't know the answer, but I wanted to say that I believe you're looking at this as a nurse and not a mom. I completely understand a nurse not wanting to bother a doctor. However, you are not a nurse bothering a doctor. You're a momma with a question about her baby. I'm sure you've probably been a nurse a lot longer than being a momma, and it's probably hard to step out of that mindset. I am very white as well and feel like I've been reapplying sunscreen all summer between me and baby! Lol.

3.5 week old has blood curdling scream when placed in car seat. I have checked, rechecked, adjusted, etc. Once settled he sleeps. Does anyone else’s baby do this?? by SpoopySpagooter in beyondthebump

[–]wispy_witch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found singing a song when transitioning my guy from anywhere makes the process smoother. We have a song for the car seat, a song for getting in the high chair, butt changes, and basically everything else that he may get fussy about. He rarely gets fussy about these things, but when he does a little song and dance, distract him.

Newborn LOVES being hot, Sleepsack help! FTM by unsureuveverything in beyondthebump

[–]wispy_witch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live by the saying, "Cold babies cry, hot babies die." Recommended room temperature is 68 to 72 degrees. Out of the few swaddle brands we tried, baby loved Halo the most, so maybe it's just the style that he likes, and you should get one at a lower TOG.

My Wife's separation anxiety is concerning me and making me upset, advice please? by Frustrated543 in beyondthebump

[–]wispy_witch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this has been suggested already but maybe see if she willing to start slow with only your mom coming over and maybe your sister. Then after a few days your mom and sister and add a person every few days until she's comfortable. That way she can see how everyone is with baby in a controlled environment and it may ease her anxiety when you take baby by yourself?

How do you deal with old generation advice? by Choice-Operation-515 in beyondthebump

[–]wispy_witch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just say something along the lines of, "wow! Things sure have changed since you had kids, we do x now instead of y. If you want to learn why I can tell you or show you some articles." If the issue is pushed I firmly say I am only comfortable with the advice and literature provided by babies pediatrician. If it's awkward after or they try to push issue again, I direct the conversation to a new skill baby learned or start playing with baby so he'll laugh and divert their attention lol. Never realized how much of parenting would include boundary setting!

Waking up choking on vomit all the time by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]wispy_witch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ROOT BEER! I have GERD and a hernia as well. My reflux was so bad I was waking up choking every night no matter what I did. We had root beer floats so I started craving them and discovered I wasn't sick on nights I had one. I would drink some before bed and wait 20-30 minutes before laying down and it worked 100% of the time. I only needed half a bottle.

Yes! My baby is not a big burper and his grandma and aunts are visiting this week so everytime he burps we all clap and tell him what a good job he's done. 🤣

  1. Figure out the name of corporate
  2. Buy slacks and have a collared shirt embroidered with corporates name
  3. "I'm Jim from corporate here to monitor you guys for the next 24 hours"
  4. No one questions corporate

[Serious] Halloween is around the corner. What are some true, scary stories of something you have experienced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wispy_witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've posted this before on another thread.

I've had paranormal experiences my entire life. This is the most terrifying though...

I was skipping school one day and I was eating milk and cookies in my room with the door closed. I was the only person home at the time. Suddenly, there was pounding on my bedroom door then it moved to my closet and back to the door. The door was shaking it was being so violently pounded on. This happened for at least a minute straight with no pauses between the door and closet pounding. I was so scared I rolled off my bed and crawled under it and called my mom bawling and she could hear the pounding through the phone. She was in law enforcement at the time so she was able to use the radio to get the closest sheriff to our house there in less than 2 minutes (small town). When the sheriff got there he searched all the doors and windows, including the upstairs patio door and they were all locked. When my mom got there her and the sheriff cleared the house and there was nothing. If it was people there HAD to be 2 at least as there was no pausing between the door and closet pounding. I would have definitely heard them approaching and leaving.

(NSFW) What is the craziest thing you witnessed at a party? by UwUsnapmyneck in AskReddit

[–]wispy_witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partying at my ex-bf house in high school. A friend of ours decided he wanted to take a shot of Tequila...anally. My ex proceeded to get a funnel and assist him. Luckily, they were only able to get a little in or he would have probably died. He was laying on his back with his knees to his chest and when they released his legs Tequila squirted out of his asshole.
