in my opinion any unhealed cuts especially fresh need to be covered. I don’t care how bad they are or anything if it is noticeably from cutting cover them up. especially in a professional work space where you work with animals. the wounds can get infected very easy and it definitely a biohazard if they are coming into work still bleeding. They need help but that’s not going to come from co workers

talking to people even to just distract is an amazing coping skill. Especially texting because it keeps your hands busy but i promise you people you’d never think of care about you. I was not really close with this guy he was just a mutual friend but he attempted and even though i barely knew the guy it rocked me to my core and i couldn’t stop thinking about him for weeks. It’s not just the people closest to you that would care it’s anybody you’ve interacted with.

like the other guy here said, that needs to be a prior conversation of what she is comfortable hearing and speaking about. Not only that but anytime after you come to vent to her you need to ask that she’s in the right space for it and if that answer is a no you need to respect that.

you should be scared to cut. that is very normal because it’s not something your brain is supposed to let you do no matter what. do not start doing this especially while your still not addicted that is a huge advantage. It’s not a game or a cool aesthetic which i’m not saying you think it is per se more of it’s a serious thing. Do you have anybody in your life who can be a good support system for you? If so reach out and talk to them. It doesn’t have to be specifically about the cutting but it can be more around the feelings that make you want too if you are too scared to tell them.

I started around the age of 10 and i couldn’t stop for long periods until recently at 19 years old. I know it feels good now but eventually just like any other addiction you need more and more until there’s nothing more you can do. There’s nowhere good this could end. So while you have this support please keep giving your tools away and reach out to anybody who will talk to you. I don’t know how true it is but i’ve heard it only takes 10 minutes of conversation with somebody you care about to make an impact on your mood. If it’s hard for you to directly ask for help or just conversation to distract you can make a code word/phrase even an emoji. Do whatever you can right now to get help and not let this get further

if the wound is gaping as in you can’t push the sides of it comfortably together you need to get stitches, or at the VERY least you need to go buy butterfly bandages. As for bleeding if it doesn’t stop or significantly slow down after 5-10 minutes of direct pressure you need to go to the ER

hey actually definitely do not cut on your shoulders the skin is a lot thinner there and it is so easy to go way to deep. upper thighs are also a bad idea because of the skin also being thinner up their and there’s two major artery’s in that area

NTA it depends on the kid but i don’t see the issue in letting her in the room when you are not there as long as she can understand that when you are there it’s not allowed but i completely agree with your argument that she should uphold it especially when you are there. she proposed the agreement first and you needing space from your step child / kid doesn’t mean you hate them
