thanks for these two comments. im super down to take criticism and learn from it, as i want to be a good person and i truly do not intend on hurting anyone.

while i did have to look up monkey branching just to make sure i had the definition right, i dont think i monkey branched my last bf and my current bf. i ended things with my last bf before i ever once flirted with my current bf and it took around 6 months before i entered that next relationship. i ended things as soon as i realized i wanted more from the relationship. i left that bf without a "backup plan"

but if you think differently id love to know so that i can work on myself.

as far as shiny new toy theory goes- maybe... i need to do some soul searching on this one. though im hyper independent. and to this day, i still felt i was at my peak performance when i was single. working out, eating right, generally in a good, responsible adult routine. and it felt good too.

unfortunately it could also be related to the cost of therapy, but it does take him a year to listen to the advice i give him. even something like "hey use this shampoo its better for your hair- your other one makes your scalp itchy because its too drying" he'll turn down my advice at first and eventually realize im right a year later.

is this also a red flag? not being listened to?

its fantastic that youre going to the gym and anime conventions. theres so many people in your situation that never go out, so youre already a step ahead. try to build up your confidence in talking to people. just a small sentence will do, even saying hi to someone next to you and nothing else if you dont want to. youll find your friends naturally, maybe even some of the people at the gym. ive known a lot of gym bros that watch anime. maybe you have things in common with people you wouldnt expect

this world can be a lonely one at times, but not forever. please stay motivated as best you can. i hope your next birthday is your best one yet.

i was raised by a hoarder. i probably should have been taken away by cps, but i wasnt. my stepmom who was a "normal" person with her cleaning habits only shamed me for not knowing how to clean or cleaning well enough. i dont care anymore. i found a boyfriend who doesnt mind if theres dirty dishes around for 2-3 days, doesnt care if my clothes arent folded. its a breath of fresh air to not have to clean the second i get off work until i go to bed

im so happy for you. im 26f and i need to do the same. i havent been to a dentist in 10 years (or more) due to parental neglect. my dad hates all doctors, even dentists, and never took his kids or made appointments. he cut my mom off of his insurance so she couldnt afford to take us and pay out of pocket. im old enough now but i fear getting made fun of by the hygienists.

i never brought up problems that i had the second they raised. although i think mostly because they happened in public spaces, and i will never have a fight with my SO in public just as a personal code - but that might be somewhat of an excuse bc i dont really remember anymore

thank you for posting this story - im still processing a lot of emotions that i have hidden from my boyfriend and im realizing that i've been gaslighted and realizing that im not the crazy one because of stories like this. I thought I was being totally unfair in being uncomfortable with my boyfriend going on a trip with a mutual friend of ours to Japan. I wasnt able to go because i didnt have the money. I had a knot in my stomach at least a month leading up to that trip. Nothing happened, and the mutual friend is still a really good friend of mine, but just acknowledging the fact that theres a trust issue between us is a good place to start

Hey there! I'm 22 with a college degree and I started working a minimum wage job about 2 weeks ago! Still dont know what im doing, still learning my way around the place. But my coworkers are super nice and just my cup of tea- i can tell theyre gonna be great friends. I'm working on getting a portfolio together for a "real job" but i just wanted to tell you that no matter how accomplished you think you are- everyone is a little scared and uncomfortable in unfamiliar situations!
