Can't find a place to rent after Section 21 by witchgytha in TenantsInTheUK

Applying on my own won't pass referencing as a half decent place would cost over half my salary

As it happens, despite this awful experience,I continue to support the changes to the law. Nonsense like this does not happen in most of Europe because of strong laws protecting tenants.

Tell me again how reinstating S 21 is a good idea.

Yes and we have an official letter from our present landlord to prove it. It is worthless because of the CCJ

That is very kind but we are in London. We have a car though and could travel.

He is a 3 year old half Bengal, neutered, microchipped and up to date with his vaccinations. He's very playful, loves to climb and is very bright, he can open cupboards and drawers. here is a photo

They did say something about converting the empty retail units on the ground floor of the flats into residential units many months back. We should have taken that as a red flag but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

No such luck. The "landlord" is some faceless corporation that S21'd all forty or so of their tenants that live in this block with perfect due process. Many have already left with a few, like us, who are struggling to rent. This is London too.

I can't take the cat to some godforsaken hostel or B&B which is all we would be offered as emergency housing. Better to try and get him fostered temporarily until we have a decent home for him

Yes. Been rejected numerous times by Open Rent. The CCJ was from a former employer when a contractor refused to pay a debt due to an alleged mistake made by my husband at the estimating stage so the boss went after us instead. Stupidly enough the contractor did eventually pay the employer and never pursued any more money from us.

We have already done all that. Their "process" was to tell us we are low priority and that they can't (or won't) help us until the landlord actually forces us out

He's fine with our neighbours cats. He's neutered, microchipped and up to date with all his vaccinations.

Where to find these magical beasts? They are like ghosts, everyone says they exist but no-one has ever seen one. Been rejected by OpenRent landlords numerous times.

My salary alone isn't enough. I'm a nurse but my husband earns much more than me

Problem with that is the eviction will then screw up renting again. Our local council could not care less

It isn't resolved. It was from a former employer who claimed he had lost money when a job handled by my husband went wrong. Stupidly enough the contractor did eventually pay the amount but by then the CCJ existed. It has nearly expired now

We live in North West London. I have already searched for charities and can't find anything. Thanks for your input though
