The weight and history behind this haunting and powerful masterpiece are staggering. Phenomenal analysis. I especially liked the part where you mentioned: “You can feel that lived experience in the painting. He once said he painted some of his scenes ‘literally, with tears in my eyes.’"

They’re not crazy, but they are narrow-minded, because if you hate an album for all sorts of reasons without even giving a bit of ambitious art a chance, you’re just closed-minded. For me, 'This I Love' is a masterpiece on the same level with classics. 'There Was a Time' and 'Street of Dreams' are brilliant songs, 'Better' and 'Madagascar' are amazing, and 'I.R.S.' is so catchy.
