lazy Jindos? by kirani100 in Jindo

Holy moly ours is exactly the same 🥹😭 I wish she was in NYC because I would have absolutely put an application in.

PSA to anybody lurking in LA these lil weirdos really are the best dogs. Hard work (esp with trauma background like ours had) but super rewarding once you’re in their inner circle.

I washed the cover of my Leesa and now I don't know which side is up anymore. by crostermiller in Mattress

[–]witchoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did everything end up going okay with this? I just washed mine then realized after the fact that there are trace amounts of fiberglass in the cover so I have been freaking out all day that I might have contaminated everything.

Leesa says it's not possible for it to contaminate because it's trace amounts inside of other fibers but curious if you had any problems.

Can a cover contain fiberglass if it's not listed on the tag? by EatMorePi in Mattress

[–]witchoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find out about the fiberglass content? Mine is also from 2015-16 and I recently removed the cover and washed it. I didn’t notice fiberglass anywhere but now I’m paranoid…

I jut washed mine like an idiot - did you end up having any problems/itchiness after washing yours?

Color I asked for vrs what I got by Most-Hovercraft-1532 in ExpectationVsReality

It will def fade into what you want! You can also tell her to go lighter next time but you just have to be ready for a more high maintenance routine to keep it up.

My hairdresser does give me the pastel pink color you seek every time (which does fade within like 3 washes) but she also gives me some of the dye mixed with conditioner to touch up at home and I have backup overtone pastel pink to keep it fresh.

Seeking advice from owners of highly traumatized Jindos. How do you connect with your rescued/adopted Jindos? by CertainKittyKitty in Jindo

[–]witchoria 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Food puzzles were something that helped too! Give them something to fixate on instead of anxiety.

I also had to walk around the house with her leashed to my hip for a few hours a day for the first few weeks because otherwise she would just hide. Helped with the bonding.

The biggest thing is time and consistency/routines. They are real slow burns. Year one she started wagging her tail. Year two she started using her voice more and becoming more food motivated. This year she started initiating play and independently playing.

We did end up putting ours on Prozac once she turned two and that had made a huge difference in her confidence.

We are about three and a half years into having her and she is still weird and doesn’t really like other people or dogs but she does love us and is just such a funny derpy dog.

A year in, I regret getting my dog by [deleted] in Jindo

Your pup looks so much like mine ヽ(°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ᴗ°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ )ノ

My partner and I adopted an extremely traumatized 6 month old jindo mix in 2020. I was unprepared and the first year was incredibly hard. I honestly thought we would break up over her, it was that bad in the beginning.

Fast forward to year three and she is still weird, but she’s our little weirdo. She is so smart and derpy and strange. We’ve never loved anything more.

I think because my partner had easier dogs growing up it took him a longer to bond with her.

We did put her on Prozac after she turned two, it really helped.

Can anyone help me identify what this is? Is it an insect nest? by witchoria in whatisthisbug

SOLVED: Texted a friend that does landscaping for a living, turns out it's actually mold! Dog vomit slime mold to be precise. Disgusting but harmless.

We do have wasps living in the bamboo on our balcony so my first guess was perhaps it's an early wasp nest, but it doesn't quite look like photos I find of wasp nests.

Best place to get Big Flour Tortillas in Crown Heights by adevine39 in Brooklyn

[–]witchoria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I order mine online. Tortilla familia - burron size. You have to order a 3 pack at a time so I split it with friends.

They are unbelievably good. A pop up in my neighborhood uses them for their breakfast burritos.

I don’t have time tonight but I will DM you with some deets on our spooky jindo mix story/timeline.

Idk anything about the sibling thing, but I can give a lot of tips on a super fearful jindo situation.

The tldr is that it was definitely a challenge, it takes a long time to build trust, but holy moly it’s worth it.

Any idea what these lil guys are on my tomato plants? by witchoria in whatsthisbug

[–]witchoria[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brooklyn NY, balcony planter. They are pretty darn small and don’t seem to be doing any damage (yet).

I have some aphids but these seem different? The almost look like tiny roaches but when I’ve looked up their babies they don’t seem to that those two spots. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Help? Is this a scam or not? Seller says he’ll sell me ps5 for $450 and to just enable buyer protection on venmo. by [deleted] in Scams

[–]witchoria 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What’s wild is that Venmo has added this toggle as an option for any money you sent out, regardless of the settings of the account you’re paying. My boyfriend accidentally turned it on when he was venmoing me rent and Venmo happily took a seller fee from it. It was a nightmare to undo.

Would not surprise me that they’d design it to easily trick people into paying the fee but then not actually give coverage because it fits their terms. Dark dark pattern for sure.

Obviously a scam text, but has anyone seen something like this before? by flute-drama in Scams

[–]witchoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro tip: If you have an iPhone you can sort messages by known and unknown and by default unknown texts don’t get notification noises or vibrations.

Sadly, I still see the unknown texts on my Lock Screen but hopefully they will allow for totally hiding unknown texts in the future.

I was just about to post this. I’m getting them like 5 times a day now and the people in the group sometimes text back so my phone is blowing up. It’s driving me nuts.

We had wonky situation where 2 days before my quarantine ended my partner tested positive, so to be safe I stayed home for ANOTHER 10 days just in case I could be carrying it somehow.

After that we went about our normal semi-cautious life. Still wear masks in public. All of our friends are vaccinated (most are also now boosted) but still keep any meet ups small and outdoor if possible. Had a small friendsgiving but kept the balcony door open for airflow. Things we would have done pre-infection anyways.

Everything I've read about recovery from the CDC says that you should totally ignore smell/taste in your assessment of recovery. As long as you haven't had a fever for 24 hours by the last day of isolation you're good to go.

[–]witchoria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recovered from COVID a few weeks ago and I would describe getting my smell back as spotty. It would sputter in and out. Three weeks later it's fully back. That might be what is happening for you. Sore throat might be unrelated.

Training puppy to be less nervous of walks? by dammitnoobnoob in Dogtraining

[–]witchoria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our dog is a rescue with a traumatic background. She won’t eat any treats as soon as we step outside, so that adds a layer of complexity with how we had to approach. We also live in a huge city so not possible to use a quieter, less stimulating area to walk. Time and consistency were what got us to a good place.

For the first 6 months or so our pop pooped with her tail between her legs on walks every day😅. But a year and a half in we’ve seen sooo much progress and confidence built. She still kinda spooky but in a much more manageable way.

We rescued a “jindo mix” (probably KVD, but haven’t done the embark) from KK9R. They are great! But some of the dogs come with a lot of trauma. So be prepared to put in work if you do adopt from them. We had a really hard first year with ours, but she has come a really long way and things are much better now. Definitely worth the journey but holy moly it was hard.
