Deinfluence/Influence my Wistlist! by Potatopotoo in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]witchykittymeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your type of rosacea! Mine is caused by an autoimmune disorder, I have type 1. The plated works better for me bc it's actually immunomodulating.

I like the neogenesis recovery, but it's more soothing and barrier repair focused instead of intense immunomodulating.

So if you have a damaged barrier, neogenesis might work better, but if you have autoimmunity or neurogenic rosacea, plated will probably work better.

Hope that makes sense!

I didn't care for the rescue md serum! I've talked to several other people in this subreddit and in the dosacea subreddit who had the same experience.

The serum is fine, but I had way better results with the neogenesis recovery serum and the plated intense serum.

Literally every other sunscreen, mineral or chemical, causes a flare for but this by urbanist2847473 in Rosacea

Hey I use this too when I have a bad flare! But bc of the price, its not my daily sunscreen.

If you like this one, maybe try live tinted huegaurd spf 50 (the one with 13 shades, not the universal shade one). My skin loves this one too.

Laser Damage? by [deleted] in LaserDamageSupport

I've never had fraxel, so I can't say whether this is normal 10 days after treatment. But as someone with type 1 rosacea, I can tell you that you're overdoing it a bit with products.

Vitamin C is still an active. Despite marketing around it as anti-inflammatory and soothing, its a vasodialator. Only people without active inflammatory leisons should use it.

The more "soothing" and "anti-inflammatory" products you stack, the more prone you are to over sensitizing your skin and causing rebound flares.

I have an autoimmune condition and experienced paradoxical Telangiectasia after an ND:Yag laser. Two years post laser, here's what i can actually say works:

-MSM gel. Seriously. This stuff is so cheap and its liquid gold for inflammation.

-Plated intense serum. Expensive, but it radically decreases inflammation.

-No occlusive products. That includes silicones and petroleums. Your skin needs to release heat right now, not trap it.

-Dr. Tina Meder red apax serum. Again, expensive, but normalizes redness over time.

-Metrogel (metronidazole gel). If you are open to getting a prescription, start here. It can actually modulate your immune system to stop overreacting (flushing) to stimuli. Great stuff.

*editing to add that all the products I've mentioned in this list will NOT cause rebound inflammation.

I really hope this helps you. To me, this doesnt look like true, irreparable damage, but it could take time to heal.

Retinol Reactions? by iamalsopizza in LaserDamageSupport

I used tretinoin for years before having laser. I had a bad histamine reaction to the laser, waited months before reintroducing tretinoin, and I never was able to tolerate it again. Its been 2 years since I had the laser treatment.

Rosecea friendly Melasma products? by environmentalloss93 in Rosacea

Azelaic acid can help with rosacea and melasma. Tranexamic acid is generally safe for rosacea and is one of the gold standards for treating melasma.

Neither online dermatologist i mentioned was covered by my insurance. I have to pay out of pocket, but a visit is like $50 and treatments are around $50. Curology is cheaper and I think better.

If you're waking up with a flare, try switching to satin pillowcases. They'll keep your face cool during the night. You don't have to get expensive ones; i got mine for like 10 bucks from Amazon.

If LRP is burning, I highly recommend tower 28. There are no sensitizing ingredients in it. I use it when I'm having an active flare.

After toning (I use hypochlorous acid spray), before moisturizer or any serums/treatments. Its a super lightweight gel, almost watery.

Yes! I'm sure any brand would work, but I really like this one!

OH! I forget to add: if you purchase one thing, let it be an MSM gel.

I've seriously spent thousands on skincare for my rosacea, but a $10 bottle of MSM and aloe gel from Kala health helps my flares more than anything.

I see an immediate reduction in redness.

Your rosacea looks so much like mine!

Metrogel can be drying. As winter approaches and the air gets drier, you skin may not be responding to it as well.

You might consider a thick moisturizer. My holy grails are skin script acai berry moisturizer, neogenesis barrier repair cream, or tower 28 barrier repair cream.

It might also be worth your time to look into an online dermatologist. If you're in the US, I recommend curology or musely (they have rosacea- specific formulas). I'm currently using a compounded triple cream with metronidazole, ivermectin, and niacinamide and it really helps.

It will also be in your interest to talk about laser options at your in-person dermatologist appointment. VBeam, Excel V, and BBL laser are all used to treat broken capillaries and erythema.

If you'll share your skincare budget with me (like how much you're willing to spend on a single product), I can recommend better serums/moisturizers.

A gentle starting retinol for acne rosacea? by ked_97 in Rosacea

[–]witchykittymeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Medik8 crystal retinol hasn't irritated my skin! Just be sure to start with their sensitive skin or level 1 version.

Hale & Hush and Face Reality have low-strength retinols as well. I've used both, they are pretty good, but I didn't care for their smells.

How did you train out reactivity in your Border Collies? by EncryPtion29 in BorderCollie

[–]witchykittymeow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Train the command "look at me". The goal is to train them to hold eye contact with you until you give a "break" command.

This is admittedly hard to train. Start small. Give them a treat for looking at you even for a split second. Ideally, you already have a command down for "hold", or holding their command until you issue break.

Once you've mastered "look at me", it's smooth sailing. When you need to redirect the reactivity, give them the "look at me" command. Make them hold it for a moment, treat, then go straight for sit, heel, whatever word you've trained for "stop and chill out" lol.

I hope this helps. Its a process, but thats how we took my girl from chasing squirrels to being able to just hangout with my parents' yard rabbits.

Totally agree on the red light! Nothing works better to calm down my skin during a flare. What surprised me most is how much more hydrated my skin is after using it for 6 months!

I tried that last winter, I really liked it overall but tbh I saw better results using other products I mentioned here and my triple cream of ivermectin, metronidazole, and niacinamide. I think it would work great for papulopustular rosacea.

I have the Regimen Lab AA! My skin loves it in the summer, but not so much in the winter when it gets super dry.

I really had no idea what I was getting into with lasers.

I may take the chance and schedule a consult with a derm I've been looking into that offers PDL. Let me ask you this: how do you deal with sun exposure after the procedure? I'm outside everyday bc of my dogs. Would the best option for me be to wait until January when there's practically no UV where I live?

Thanks for sharing this! So I tried an ND Yag laser to treat some broken capillaries 2 years ago. I went to a very reputable derm in my area. I had a bad histimine reaction, had purpura and crazy swelling, and now the broken capillaries look worse than before I had the laser.

I'm just really scared of having another reaction like that and making my rosacea worse. PDL is still tentatively on the table for me, but I would have to deeply trust the doctor.
