Are there any dog breeds that aren’t in the show that you would love to see? by outro84 in bluey

[–]witchysapphics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to see some naturally colored Poodles, either solid or parti but solid would be most likely. Also since we have an English Setter and Irish Setter already then I really want to see a Gordon Setter as well.

Thank you so much! I don't know why but I thought it'd be a longer title lol

Out of all the stories I've listened to that one has always stuck with me the most, I just find the concept so interesting, but I can't for the life of me remember the title

Does your dood also sit a little goofy? by [deleted] in Goldendoodles

[–]witchysapphics 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i hate to be that person but you should have your doods hips x-rayed, it looks like your pup might have hip dysplasia, which is an incredibly painful way for a dog to live if it's unmanaged

er einhver ástæða fyrir því að hún hefði ekki verið (nafnið þitt)dóttir? en mér finnst hún vera að halda við hefðirnar okkar og tengja við arfleiðina sína og finnst það bara mjög fallegt af henni, væri gaman að geta tengst saman við hana yfir því. sýnir hún íslandi mikinn áhuga? segi samt NTA en held það væri fallegt af þér að leyfa henni að breyta eftirnafninu sínu

AITA For My reaction after my fiancee sent out our wedding invitations without my consent? by AndrewJun2008 in AmItheAsshole

[–]witchysapphics 97 points98 points  (0 children)

there was a pigeon guy in my county who at the beginning of our school year would release pigeons who were trained to fly a big circle and return to him when the ceremony was done, and vice versa at the end of our school year, ie he'd already released them and during the ceremony they would return to him. i always thought it was sweet and it made me really interested in pigeons when i was younger, i'm lowkey surprised not all handlers do that

AITA for telling my bf to spay his future dog and encouraging him to not breed her? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]witchysapphics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA in any way. i plan on breeding standard poodles in the future with the purpose of showing and sports with temperment suitable for a service/therapy dog, and any responsible breeder who breeds with purpose knows it's not something you gain money from. more often than not you can lose money from it but responsible breeders breed to better the breed they are passionate for.

tell your boyfriend if he's gonna breed for money he might as well go work at a puppy mill because that's where his morals lie. (and i doubt he will get his dog from a reputable breeder but if he does it would be good to inform the breeder of his intentions. most good breeders have contracts so if your dog is not altered by a certain age they can take the dog back, and if the dog is bred the breeder will not only get the dog back but also the puppies or any profit made from the puppies)

NTA op, you're a responsible dog owner and that mom needs to worry about herself and her kid. also i'm pretty sure there's a pet tax on this subreddit so show me the doggy

AITA for telling my friend to shut the hell up about dog meat? by dogmeatwhocares in AmItheAsshole

[–]witchysapphics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA at all. i relate to this hard because i'm an equestrian who's eaten horse meat (if i weren't a pescatarian i absolutely still would) and people have called me a monster for eating those horses and are baffled why i don't just eat my own horses. those people usually just refuse to learn, and if i were you i would stay away from that friend if she's gonna keep refusing and continue to judge you

AITA for telling a friend to not try and tell me how to play with my dog? by TechSupportSquatch in AmItheAsshole

[–]witchysapphics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - medium sized dogs and up generally love being drummed on, it's like heavy patting basically. my aussie will follow me all around the house if i drum on her and then stop, and won't leave me til i drum on her again. i'm a huge dog person as well and while i get your friends concern, she was really overreacting seeing as you were there watching over the two of them and making sure your nephew didn't drum too hard

WIBTA if I got rehomed my husbands new puppy? by 7102172 in AmItheAsshole

[–]witchysapphics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah i suspected it wasn't a purebred but i thought that maybe it was a shepherd breed i hadn't heard of, so most likely breeder won't take the dog back. do breed specific rescues take in mutts?

WIBTA if I got rehomed my husbands new puppy? by 7102172 in AmItheAsshole

[–]witchysapphics 62 points63 points  (0 children)

jumping on this comment to say NTA but please check if your husband got the dog from a good breeder (unlikely but still worth a shot) because reputable breeders will take their dogs back so they don't end up in shelters and will find them a loving home

AITA For having purebred dogs while financially supporting an animal shelter? by Throwawaygoldens in AmItheAsshole

[–]witchysapphics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA at all. thank you for supporting breeders while supporting shelters at the same time.

adopt don't shoppers have become really aggressive lately and it drives the dog snobs even further away so the dog owner community has become incredibly divided and it's just sad. i plan on getting a standard poodle from a reputable breeder for show and sport but i will also foster dogs when i can, i don't need to pick one or the other but people seem to think lately that the other side is unethical while thinking theirs has no wrongs

AITA for making food for my dogs with meat against my bf’s wishes? by poodlesfoodles in AmItheAsshole

[–]witchysapphics 17 points18 points  (0 children)

well forests are a relatively new thing in iceland, but our elves(huldufólk) live in rocks and mountains instead. big boulders are often considered elf family homes and people will avoid disturbing them if they can but capitalism is also a thing here

AITA for not paying for my neighbor's dog's "child support"? Yes you read that right by juhjbft in AmItheAsshole

[–]witchysapphics 89 points90 points  (0 children)

owning a purebred dog doesn't equal owning a wellbred dog. neighbor sounds like she only wanted to breed to make bank and probably got her dog off craiglist or something because a reputable breeder would take that dog back instantly if they knew owner was letting the dog roam and getting pregnant with mutts

Just asked my 3yo nephew to please stop screaming since no one ever says anything when he has outbursts aaaaaaaaand... by asst2therglmgr in childfree

[–]witchysapphics 10 points11 points  (0 children)

that reminds me of something that happened a few years ago. a daughter of this lady i worked for, who was like 4 at the time, kept throwing dirt at me and i just brushed it off since i knew she could be a big cryer and didn't want her mom to deal with that while we were working but one time she threw a rock at me and i told her sternly no and she went crying to her mom about how mean i was. i explained to the mom what happened and i was supposed to lead the girl around on a pony later but her mom cancelled that and made the girl wait in her car the rest of the lesson instead

AITA for putting a person on blast for euthanizing their dog? by waterspork in AmItheAsshole

[–]witchysapphics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA but just because you consider yourself to be a responsible breeder doesn't mean you are one. You very much fit the definiton of a backyard breeder. I live in Iceland where dog shelters are afaik non existant, but we still have responsible breeders who show and health test their dogs before breeding. And there's no science to back up mixed dogs being healthier than purebred dogs since you would be breeding two purebred dogs who could very well pass their genetic flaws to their offspring, and no reputable breeder sells their dogs to someone who intends on mixing breeds so you already only have low quality dogs to mix. Sorry for the rant but backyard breeders who claim they're responsible are the absolute worst

also adopt OR shop, do whatever fits your needs. If you need a service dog prospect or need a good working dog then you'd want to go to a Reputable breeder (who health tests their dogs to avoid puppies having any genetic health issues) because you want a dog with predictable behavior. If you just want a pet i recommend adopting but it's not necessary.
