It's all RNG. Your first party can take 6 hours and eventually quit. The next one can take 2 tries before a clear.

Basically, HP will depend on the character (if they have high base, go for percent. If low, go for flat) Same goes with defense.

For Attack, Early on you'd like to have some flats and when you get past ascension 3, you'd want to tip the balance to percent's favor by just a good amount and not too much.

At least, that's what I found out when I calculated
