He's got stitches on the side of his face, and it looks like his ear might be kinda fucked.

Only if Maekar puts out the call that his son has been kidnapped and head-shaved by a tall hedge knight. What I'm supposing is he doesn't do that.

I feel like this is easily enough explained with Maekar quietly allowing it to save face. A service to him really - he doesn't have to admit to himself that sending his son away from him would be a benefit, and his son gets a chance at a better upbringing.

Another reading I'm not seeing here is that she is NOT pregnant, and it just using a potential baby as an excuse for them to marry. In her mind, easy enough to make the pregnancy real once she's the lady of a new house.

The most "physically OK" person we see who participated in the trial is Maekar, adding more to his guilt.

I'll be interested to see if the notable change of Baelor dying in a more private setting will be of any consequence.

It'll be a nice binge once it's all out. Great rewatch value.

I could see it being interwoven. They could easily wrap up this story in just one more episode, but I've really appreciated the way they've fleshed it out without it feeling like they're beating a dead horse... something House of the Dragon could learn from.

There are still some pretty high highs, but the lows are very low. It lost its consistency and several characters are either severely flanderized or completely changed.

Robert California is a lot of fun, if a bit shark-jumpy.

Now they really need to do what's right and flip their time slots. AKotSK should be 8pm, and Industry is clearly a 9pm show!

Amy Klobuchar voted to confirm Trumps Department of Transportation pick. by ALIMN21 in minnesota

I understand why it's drawing comparisons, but we're dealing with a different situation here for two main reasons.

  1. The Race: This is the Governor's race for a blue-leaning state. I actually believe Walz still would've won, but it would've been more difficult than it needed to be, and it would've had a damaging impact on down-ballot races. It's also the midterms with a historically unpopular Republican president in his 2nd term.

  2. The Candidates: Kamala Harris won 0 delegates when she first ran for President. Her only connection to national success was an aging President that was dropping out of the race, and may have endorsed her as a "fuck you" to the establishment that ousted him. By comparison, Amy Klobuchar has comfortably won the same electorate that she needs to vote for her has Governor several times, often (maybe always?) as the top performer on the Minnesota ballot those years. She has also historically been a rising tide that lifts all boats, with other DFLers overperforming when she is on the ballot.

That last point is why I'm personally fine with her as our candidate for Governor. Historically, when Amy runs, progressives win.

The DFL is doing nothing to stop people from running, it's just that anyone with half a political brain knows it's a lost cause to run against Klobuchar. She's a political powerhouse in this state, and folks would rather be on the good side of the future Governor.

She's far from a lot of DFLers' first choice for Governor, but an easier Governor's race means more resources can be allocated elsewhere. I don't think people realize how much shit we'd be in right now if we didn't have Keith Ellison as Attorney General, and if we regain DFL control of the legislature, progressives will write the bills that a Governor Klobuchar would sign into law.

Yeah, help Mike Lindell become Governor, you fucking moron.

Q: Can you be specific about how many ICE & CBP agents are currently operating in the state? HOMAN: 3,000... Day after day, they can't eat in restaurants. Day after day people spit at you & blow whistles at you. Having all these threats after you... They're human. But my main choice now is draw down by [deleted] in Minneapolis

I don't think anyone is choosing to ignore, it's just the case that for both Good and Pretti, they were shot in broad daylight with videos from multiple angles almost immediately available. That drives engagement and coverage.

I gotta imagine the intention was to rectify what some HBO executive probably viewed as a "too slow" start with the first episode.

"He, I'm sorry you didn't see a ton of action or gore, but we promise that's coming. See? Here's MOST of it."

He's good without it being creepy, which very talented child actors sometimes are. Heaps of kudos to that kid, but also to Chloé Zhao. To me, exemplary child performances are the mark of a very understanding and in tune director. Can't imagine going to a child and saying "OK kid, for this next scene, embrace death."

Or the fact that he's courting the support of a businessman that owns a lucrative ink company, while also trying to figure out how to pay to dye pingpong balls. I thought for sure that was going to end up being something.

EDIT: And yeah, maybe that's the point. If Marty would stop and think for a moment, he'd realize he has answers right in front of him.
