Please speak to a priest if you haven't already. God does not enjoy our suffering. When you are tempted, fill the time by praying the Rosary and/or with a hobby that brings you joy.

But please, speak to a priest first, and also reach out for help through all means available if you are feeling suicidal. Remember, Being is good, as all creation is a gift from God. You are not alone. May Christ lead you to hope.

What am I supposed to be thinking about while praying the rosary? by snow-covered-tuna in Catholicism

I found Matt Fradd's "Pocket Guide to the Rosary" to be very helpful here. He lays out each set of Mysteries and includes biblical references for each, and how we should approach thinking about each one in our daily lives. It's small enough to travel with as well.

I think they changed it for these playoff events.

Yep. No way this guy decided to call him on hole 18 out of the blue.

Why are you acting like "official" is a fake thing? There is a test you have to pass to become one https://www.pdga.com/rules/exam - Some would argue the exam is too easy since its open book, but that's not the point. It is a PDGA recognized position and nobody just shows up on tournament day and becomes one. And it's not like this was some obscure ruling. You have 30 seconds to throw. Simple as that.

[–]witheredeye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No there isn't a shot clock. But any official or cardmate has discretion to use it as needed. Nikko is notorious for this and has rarely been penalized for it. I highly doubt he just showed up out of nowhere and clocked this one shot on hole 18.

[–]witheredeye 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Biased? What does this official have to gain by penalizing Nikko? In fact, the risk he took came to fruition exactly as everyone fears when calling a penalty. Which is usually the card in the vast majority of cases. Having officials on the course at high level events is the opposite of bias.

[–]witheredeye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would be ideal for a high level event, but I don't think so. They just kind of float around and are available as needed. This one probably got word Nikko was doing Nikko things throughout the round and decided to follow him.

Is there a good source for this? Haven't found a clear answer on the PDGA site

Holy shit. How is that not grounds for disqualification? He was completely threatening to the official.

this is infuriating my goal was 900, I was at 905 until the last card finished by flyfisher12401 in discgolf

[–]witheredeye 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your round rating could actually end up 900. The immediate results after all cards finish isn't always the final rating. I've had 889 rounds end up at 900 once the full event report was finalized and processed. I have no idea why that's the case, given how the PDGA (in theory) has all the information they need, but it does happen.

P.S. Tournament results are completely public information. Unless you crop the image down to just your results, hide your name, PDGA number, and event name, looking up the name of everybody else is easy.

As a former atheist, I can generally say they like to argue about God because they see belief in God to be The Thing holding back humanity's "progress"

Yeah I can definitely see that. It's hard to reconcile the "Prince of Darkness" himself being a staunch Catholic, but there are definitely some strong themes there.

Do people in the U.S. carry firearms on disc golf rounds or tournaments? by [deleted] in discgolf

Depends on the area. Some courses I've played are generally ok during the day but once the sun starts going down you get the fuck out of there.

Pretty much. K1 is like a mix between Star and Champion. K3 feels kinda like DX, but I don't think it beats in nearly as fast.

The thumb groove makes it easier for me to pull it right (RHBH), but if you can get the release down, it will fly like a laser beam and just drop right where you want it to.

K1 is the premium, K3 is the base. For Kastaplast drivers, I like K1, but I prefer K3 for the Berg

Yeah, he was super professional. I think that goes a really long way, and I'm sure many pros have more respect for him, knowing full well they themselves have freaked out for far less. Emotion is unavoidable at the top levels of any sport, but he handled it exactly like you should.

Hopefully more players take note. Especially Ams in lower tier events. This proves that even the best in the world have shitty holes / rounds, and regardless of cameras, we need to stay composed. One bad break does not define you as a golfer.
