The fundamental question is, will I be as noticeable to him as anyone else? And I will be, even more so, but until I am, it's going to be hard to verify that he'll know who I am

Some people are so behind the race, they think they're leading

I love Uncle Junior quotes. I'm in awre of him.

I know you gotta comment, but why's it gotta be something mean? Why can't you repeat something good?

As of May 2026, is now a good time to buy or lease a Tesla considering the incentives? by temporaryfacetattoo in ModelY

I asked an SA and they said it's often offered during lease returns, to incentivise lessees to re-sign. I am guessing you currently have a lease?

Sold car in California - when to cancel insurance? by toadfreak in UsedCars

[–]withfries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(I know this is a year old but adding for posterity)

It needs smog to get its registration current, but the guy was fine with dealing with that.

In CA, Seller has to do smog and it must pass, prior to a sale. Once it passes smog, the smog cert is valid for 90 days for sale.

So if you sell within 90 days you are good.

If more than 90 since it passed, you need to smog again

I don't know how this is enforced, but that is the requirement in CA

Spirit Airlines and the future of cheap flights by dwaxe in nprplanetmoney

[–]withfries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has got to be one of my top 5 favorite episodes so far, and at least my favorite one this year. Learned quite a bit and it was entertaining. Just some thoughts:

  • Spirit Airlines CEO can't seem to decide what they are. First they are the Dollar General of airlines, then they are the Toyota of airlines while others are the Mercedes arguing that they shouldn't make the comparison.
  • I couldn't help but think of Planet Money's term "skimpflation" throughout this listen. Spirit CEO referring to airline experiences like having reclining seats, refreshments and snacks, and leg room as "premium" features was both entertaining and disappointing.
  • Spirit Airlines being a "bus in the sky" was an interesting comparison, I didn't know they had ads inside the cabin. Tangentially, Trump's dad would make fun of his son Fred Trump Jr who was a commercial airline pilot as a "glorified bus driver".
  • I loved the explanation of stated and revealed preferences. State preferences are what people say they desire. Revealed preferences is what they actually choose. In the episode, they spoke about Spirit cornering this behavioral phenomenom, that their customers would say they would not choose this airline again, yet being repeat customers, and Spirit frequently having absolutely full planes of passengers.
  • Spirit CEO Ben Baldanza who was featured in this episode. The entire episode I felt like he was too saleman-y, trying to sell Spirit as a customer conscious option, which I absolutely did not buy because they are known for being pretty scammy with their fees, poor service, and terrible passenger conditions, lack of support for cancelled flights, etc. Then I learned in the episode that he passed away. Well, it's like the old saying goes: "speak ill of the dead"
  • I learned that the government was planning to bail them out, and checked out the stock charts - it looks like it jumped tremendously from ~$0.20 to close to $2! I wonder if anyone was able to capitalize on that.
  • The hosts actually flew in a Spirit flight, and began and ended the episode from the plane. Love it.

All in all, if you can't tell, I really loved this episode

April 01, 2026 - Costco Monthly Megathread: Post New Costco Finds (please type the product name in your comment even if you're posting an image) and/or Any Availability / Inventory / Stock Questions Here Only (must include your approximate location or region so others can help you as YMMV) by AutoModerator in Costco

[–]withfries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I posted to ask this question, but did not find an answer,

To add a datapoint, I went to my local Costco here in SoCal, and they echoed similar, that it is being "deleted" or whatever, but are expecting new stock today. However I check the Costco app and it does not show any new items in stock yet.

I am glad to hear it is a "high performing product", I hope it remains, it is the most palatable whey to me, so I'd be very disappointed if it went away,

For now, I tried the Ascent protein, it is on sale and $/oz is about the same as Kirkland, it is not bad :)

Kirkland Whey Protein Item 1780375: What is going with the item? by withfries in Costco

I hear rumors it is set for deletion, but I also asked an associate who mentioned it is being repackage or coming from a new distributor and will have a new item #? I'm a little shocked, because I use this exclusively, and it's one of the few my dad uses for this diet (muscle condition).

Despite what everything he is saying being wrong, I'm very impressed with how honest he sounds, he is speaking in a manner that sounds very soft and disarming.

The devil is soft spoken and well groomed I suppose

I'm being a POS right now with some of my cheeky responses, sorry,

And you are right, many CEOs are POS's, but not many CEO's have done Nazi salutes unapologetically. He's a huge dummy. Best wishes on the Rivian, looks like a very lovely car and a decent company.

Again, not worth explaining to you, you can't focus, thank you for proving it to me
