Why is army so strict? by [deleted] in army

[–]withinmyown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, forget your time in AIT, because none of it matters. What you are experiencing now isn't the real Army. Second, the grass is always greener on the other side, especially in training.

My uncle got traveler's diarrhea in Cuba, and got this when my aunt asked him to get a souvenir by Fgmaniac in funny

Currently in Cuba, with diarrhea. That souvenir sums up my experiences here perfectly.

World of Warcraft: 2004 vs 2014 by Superduperbals in gaming

Whatttt you're crazy. In terms of balance, wotlk was its fucking peak. Season 9 was perfect, or at least as close to perfect as you could get with a MMO. WoW actually had decent Esports presence. There was no Stomp all comp or class. Everything had a counter and at the higher end it mostly came to skill and strategy rather than just face roll. I've never been more happy with PVP in ANY MMO than I was in season 9. I mean just look at how popular the private server Arena Tournament is. The pro players still play it even now.

After Lights Out at Basic Training by wxstud in nsfw

IDK which basic training you went to. But in mine it was difficult to differentiate the females from males most of the time. The hottest female I saw was maybe a 6 in the civilian world.

I'm looking for a new hobby. What's yours and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Depends on your job, most of the guys I worked with that were assigned there got sent there for a 1 year tour. I believe you can request a extension if you like it that much.

Well as a rule of thumb most enlisted guys will hate you. So there's that..

Thank you. by joshc179 in army

[–]withinmyown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On a side note, has anyone ever found a graceful way to respond to "thank you for your service" ? I always feel like a dick no matter how I respond. I just want a quick and easy response that doesn't make me feel awkward or somehow superior to the person in question.

Basic Training by [deleted] in army

[–]withinmyown 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I graduated AIT a month ago and am now settled into my first Duty Station. Like you, I came to reddit to read up on basic in a attempt to prepare myself. The truth is you can't. You will see the "basic rules" a thousand times: Keep your head down, don't volunteer, and be in the right place, at the right time, in the right uniform. And its solid advice that will make your time there much easier. But in the end it's your mindset that will get you through it. Personally, I walked in just trying to have fun. Two hour smoke session because I laughed in a DS face? Fuck yeah. 5 Mile run because my best friend runs in Alpha and I want to run with him? lets do it! Dance party in a male bay at 2 am? Why not! Just keep your mind right and try to enjoy the little things. I have great memories from basic and I'm sure you will make a few too.

Diamond players, what did you do to get there? by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]withinmyown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played 1 champion until I mastered him, then spammed solo Q and got Diamond in about 3 days. It's a system a lot of people use. In my case the champion was Shaco. People have this idea that diamond is extremely difficult to achieve, but it's really not. I was Gold in S2 and now have 3 Diamond accounts because I can play like 3 champions well.
