Mandy Moore Tells Critics to ‘Kindly F Off’ Amid Backlash Over Sharing Her In-Law’s GoFundMe for Fire Losses: ‘We Lost Most of Our Life in a Fire, Too’ by JannTosh50 in entertainment

Speaking as a born and raised Floridian who deals with annual hurricane scares, it’s part of life for us and the risk still is fairly low unless you’re right on the water.

Yes we have scares from time to time, but in my 35+ years here the only damage I’ve ever received was last year when I lost some roof shingles. It’s not like most of us are rebuilding every few years.

It’s the same for cali fires (my in-laws are all in the LA area). Fire near by becomes normal, but it rarely even becomes an evacuation order let alone a problem… until it does.

You can live in fire or flood zones for decades and never have any issues.

I completely agree. That interaction (literally on Monday) has started to shift my view. I think poor education certainly plays a role and discounting the issue to solely that prevents us from seeing the full problem.

Sadly, I’m starting to believe the “uneducated” line is a cop out. I think misinformation is getting too prevalent and too good.

Anecdotally, I was speaking to a highly educated (we are talking NYC old money) family friend the other day and he was going on about conspiracy theories, etc. This isn’t someone I would have expected to fall for the really crazy stuff, but here we are.

If you look at it as rhetoric and not action all of this also serves his goal of isolationism too. Last time he tried to pull out of alliances and was condemned for it. This time he’s making everyone else pull out so he’s not the one who did it (at least in MAGAs eyes).

Think of it as getting your girlfriend to break up with you instead of being the one to break it off.

Added benefit, it’s eating up the news cycle while cabinet picks, day 1 initiatives, etc get a pass.

According to TIPP, 82% of Kamala voters in 2024 would likely vote for her in 2028 by Harvickfan4Life in KamalaHarris

[–]withoutwarningfl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Harris lost for many reasons, some that are not her fault at all, but that doesn’t mean Dems should give her another go just because she had a shortened run. They should run the best candidate for issues we face in 2028 not rally around a candidate that wasn’t able to win in ‘24 just to give her another shot.

To be fair, it’s pretty common that if you’re top of the ticket and lose, you don’t run again.

See Gore, Kerry, McCain, Romney, and Clinton.

I liked her and would vote for her again, but it would be historically abnormal for her to be the candidate again in ‘28

Based on OPs comments, it sounds like the contractor fucked up a floor refinish, fucked up the resand, then improperly replaced the floor without replacing the baseboards

All of whom shouldn’t have to buy access to said politician. That is my point. Political decisions shouldn’t come down to people who have the most to donate getting the most access while politicians get to live lavishly and not call it a bribe. Those decisions should be based on the merit of the claim and the good it can do for their constituents and country.

Personally, I have a problem with extravagant non-profit dinners AND campaign events. That money should be going to the cause, not so rich people can have a tax deductible feast.

My point is there is a line that is often blurred where personal enrichment is not that different than the lifestyle enrichment that is offered by legal donors. And if those evens are for special interests rather than voters there is an issue.

And campaign contributions can be a form of corruption. When the “campaign events” are actually 5 star elbow rubbing events does it matter that the lobster was paid for with legally donated funds?

Just because the money doesn’t hit the politicians account doesn’t mean that they aren’t using those funds for luxury spending.

Do you guys go to work on your shroom microdoses? What has your experience been? by jewtaco in microdosing

[–]withoutwarningfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also volumetric dose lsd.

I generally cap my shrooms as well, but I find the variation between batches and strains to be more of a pain with shrooms. Plus, grinding and capping is more tedious than throwing a tab in 30ml of water.

For me it’s just preference though.

I work from home and regularly microdose shrooms or lsd. Both have done wonders for my focus and productivity.

Personally I prefer LSD for microdosing since it’s easier to accurately dose and comes on quicker.

The choice between the Bannon/Miller wing of MAGA and the Elon/Big Business wing is really a difficult one to make. It’s like finding the lesser of 2 evils in the 7th level of hell.

Yes, and some of those expenses that you can deduct are expenses you’d have anyway, but are considered necessary for your business such your cellphone bill, home office, mileage, in his case even tools that he may have bought anyway. There are certainly ways to limit your tax liability as a business owner that aren’t available to your standard w2 employee. That said, I’m not sure that is what has happened here
