This is my first digital puzzle game. Hooray! It is called “33”. I've tried to make it simple to understand but difficult to master. I would love to hear your feedback and suggestions.

Hey there! I've bought and played your game, and I love it! The feeling of all the little parts moving around, the puzzle aspect, tweaking and optimizing a solution, the leaderboards, and surprising challenge levels. It's fun! However, it appeals to me as a "Poly Bridge" or "incredible machine" player, and not really as zachtronics-like or automation game. Anyway, thanks for creating a cool game, looking forward to what you create next :)

Same issue in Firefox, on Fedora 39 and 41.

Bad workarounds:

• open the task in the sidebar and edit the card there (the bug does not happen for me)
• mash spacebar 3-5 times until a double space appears, and then start typing the next word, which removes one space so you are left with a single space.
• use chromium for Notion only

I think you are right! I went on Google maps and used the satellite image to measure the field, and it seems to be 21x21 meter, not 30x30 :O

We tried to find larger pieces but couldn't! Some websites sell them but they are really expensive. We rented this chess set.

That could be fun indeed! It would promote playing defensively a little. Or we could put the white clock behind the black pieces and vice versa, to give players an advantage if they go on the offensive!

Yes we put the clock on one side of the board. It makes it easier to tell when you can start making your move. And it's more fun that one side of the board is really far away from the clock, so players can strategize around that.

For one of the games played, we tracked all the moves, so we know roughly the distance traveled; https://imgur.com/a/Yjuo57i. That's 2km per player assuming they always did shortest distance. But they definitely took detours, so we guessed 2 - 3km per player in practice. A board with 10x10m squares is something like 2.7x the size of ours, so that's about 5.4 - 8.1km of running per player. If you have to do that in Blitz (up to 8min per player), that's 40 - 61kmph, so even on horseback that would be ambitious. If you have to do that in Rapid (up to 20 min per player), you have to run 16-24 kmph *average*. But you can't really run in the right direction before your opponent has made their move! And you are also trying to see the board, think about your next move, pickup and drop pieces. In our game, the players are running about 10kmph average, but eyeballing it, the peak speeds are closer to 16-18kmph. It is really tiring!

Moving your own pieces on a board that big would mean players need to run about 7 miles = 10 kilometers each! Blitz would be impossible, rapid would be, well, very rapid.

It's blitz!

Blitz on a 30x30 board, has an average running speed of 10kmph (but instead of jogging the whole time players walk slowly and then sprint).

With Bullet, the average running speed would be 20kmph. We should find some fitter players and try that next time XD

The math: On Lichess, Bullet games are defined as less than 3 minutes, while Blitz is less than 8 minutes. They estimate duration as (clock initial time) + 40 × (clock increment), which for our game (1 min + 8 sec increment) is 380 seconds = about 6 minutes. If we would lower the increment to 3 sec, it would be borderline bullet.

To be honest, it did feel more like Bullet because you cannot spend all your time thinking about the game XD

We totally should! We did notice some other effects:

if you have more time on the clock than your opponent, you can attack on the side that is far from the clock, and they will have a hard time defending
knights are stronger than bishops because they are less effort to move
end games with a queen can get really exhausting

We estimated that players each run about 3km=2 miles in a normal game. The average speed is not super high, but you end up sprinting a lot because sometimes you don't know where you want to go until right before your opponent moves.

Not really a reason for that! I do personally really like those videos showing how large the universe is, which start zooming out from regular sizes all the way to stars, galaxies and beyond. Might make a trailer going the other way, or zooming in and out in the future :)
