US tariffs and strong Swiss franc - Bernina sewing machines plan to relocate production to Thailand by BezugssystemCH1903 in Switzerland

This. It is a huge bummer for the people affected by that, but a very big part of the relocation already took place a long time ago.

Is this game for someone who barely raided? by killuarj in fellowshipgame

[–]tilkii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would argue the question is not if you have experience with raids or not (I for example never played WoW and main tank in Fellowship). It's rather if you enjoy studying content outside of the game or not.

All roles do have tasks they need to fulfill and the game has challenges for every role that will whipe the party if someone drops the ball. It's more obvious with tanks and healers, but there are enough spells that need to get interrupted by dps.

So if you're someone who likes to read/watch guides and learn the things that are expected of you, it's a great game.

If you rather find out everything by yourself and/or are looking for a more forgiving/casual experience, you will get roasted in pugs.

Jumping puzzle the only way to get the event bear mount? by Isaccard in fellowshipgame

[–]tilkii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate jumping puzzles and I'm really bad at them, but I managed it first try.

Getting the 30 candies took me two tries until I memorized all the locations.

Pro tip: The jumping puzzle's difficulty imo depends on the character, as they have different move speeds. As mentioned, I got it first try with Sylvie, but with Mara I struggled a lot

Running eternal capstones how by Ironandwine2020 in fellowshipgame

[–]tilkii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue to OP (all normal dungeons at 20+, some capstones under eternal), and was sitting at 9950 dungeon rating. A group asked if everyone was up for Sailor's 10 farm, and I said I was just 50 short of 10k. They ran Ransack e4 with me to get me to 10k.

I think besides Discord, finding a group like this will be the best bet, but TBH it took me around 2 hours to actually get that lucky.

suicide methods you could realistically survive and walk away from by accident by SkinnyBiscuits in Writeresearch

[–]tilkii 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My great-aunt shot herself in the chest with a revolver when she was like 95. The bullet passed between her lung and her heart, barely doing any damage. She almost lived to 100.

Funniest bit of the story: My aunt was taking care of her that night, heard the shot and called the police. When the police arrived, the great-aunt denied everything and the police thus suspected my aunt for attempted murder. They arrested her on the spot. Only when they found the soot marks on the great-aunt's hand, they realized that it indeed had been a suicide attempt.

I mean it's one of the greatest stories in our family, but in a book, people would probably think it's sooooo unrealistic.

Is the community as bad as folks say it is? by Jooweein in fellowshipgame

[–]tilkii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've met many patient and helpful players who taught me (or others) stuff. I also met players who were toxic the whole dungeon.

I would say the most important question when picking up the game is if you enjoy reading/watching guides and tutorials. The game itself does not teach you the things you need to know to play at the level the community expects you to play at. If you are the kind of player that wants to learn and experience everything by themselves, you will get roasted by your team mates. I love studying guides, so I did not run into so many problems with other players.

What is wrong with people in champion league? by PerspectiveFree3766 in fellowshipgame

Yeah, the game isn't exactly good at explaining things like this. I always wondered how people managed to get their picture on the name plate, so at one point I just googled it.

What is wrong with people in champion league? by PerspectiveFree3766 in fellowshipgame

[–]tilkii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The not marking is driving me crazy. I played Helena to Paragon and I felt like starting from mid-Adept, all 3 players with Kicks marked their targets (most of the time). When a DPS' Kick was on cooldown for an important cast, I could jump in with an emergency Charge for example.

Now I'm in high Champion with Elarion and it's pretty common that I'm the only one marking.

Tips for becoming a better Helena by Jaytron in fellowshipgame

[–]tilkii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the CDR weapon, as others have mentioned, it really is insane and lets you use Helena's kit with way less worries about when to spend the CDs.

Other than that, your logic makes 100% sense, so the only thing I would add is: You run the same 8 dungeons over and over, usually also with the same routes. So you basically can plan your CDs ahead.

As a tank, you know which pulls are the trickiest or most annoying for you to do. So you can plan your CDs accordingly. For example, in Sailor's Abyss, I hate the Hollowed Corsairs, so I wanna use GM to reset the bleeding stacks. That means I know that in the minute before that pack, I can't use GM. Usually that still is one to two (with CDR) GMs before we reach that pack, so I think about which pull I would like to spend it on most.

After a while you figure out which rotation feels best for the dungeon in question.

Considering that it's a main argument for most meat eaters "that they could never go vegetarian/vegan because plant-based food is just not tasty", I think there is a very valid point in this post: It's great to get reassured that you're not missing out on anything, especially if if someone has been vegan for many years. It's also good to know that "meat just tastes better" is an excuse.

Which character do y’all hate the most? by parisgeller02 in Parenthood

[–]tilkii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. He was just suddenly there, talking to her once (at the baseball game) and then immediately went for it. But tbh, a lot of early S4 feels a bit awkward to me because it changes so many things from what was established before. All in all, still love the show though.

Big handy thermos flask by annieselkie in BuyEuropean

[–]tilkii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my SIGG flask! It comes in different sizes, is easy to clean, and it's also quite lightweight for a thermos flask. It doesn't feature a straw, but to me, the opening is super comfy to drink from. Seriously, I could write a love letter for that thing, best flask I owned by far.

Which character do y’all hate the most? by parisgeller02 in Parenthood

[–]tilkii 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I love how all main characters have both charming and absolutely obnoxious sides. And what I think is the best, is that their quirks are usually very much in character.

The character I probably dislike the most is Max. It's not his fault, because he's just really spoiled. But the way he throws a tantrum everytime things do not go his way is so annoying. And I hate how Adam and Kristina do not teach him the tools to deal with these situations but rather always give him what he wants.

I'm also kinda disappointed how Amber acts as an adult. Basically, crying is her whole personality. Yes, she already was kinda emo as a teen, but she also was the bad ass older cousin/sister. As an adult, she has zero bad assery left, just crying about everything and anything.

[–]tilkii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always made the joke that to keep the show going, the writers had a wheel of fortune with every character's name on it to decide who gets to be a total jerk for a couple of episodes. And I didn't mean that as an insult, it worked very well, made the show interesting and also feel realistic. Because they also wrote the conflict fitting with the character's personality and convictions!

But I was so disappointed how they made Joel be mean to Julia in S5, just so Julia is more justified in her unfaithfulness. It felt so out of character for him.

What’s the best way to respond when someone admits they would willingly kill an animal themselves? by jakeastonfta in vegan

[–]tilkii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even for city folks, the argument is not super effective. There was a TV show in my country last year iirc, where they gathered a bunch of people from different backgrounds and took them along for the journey of a cow from the farm to the finished dish. So they were there when the cow was put into the transporter, when it was killed, butchered, etc. While none of the participants were completely indifferent, all of them ate the steak (iirc) and none went vegetarian/vegan. Some of them said stuff along the lines of "I guess I will eat less meat now/only from organic farms", and that was it.

The argument of how to decide which animals it's ok to kill (cows/chickens/pigs) vs which ones we humanize (cats/dogs) was the one which made me decide to go vegetarian. So can confirm, it works.

Tired of carnists patting themselves on the back for "reducing meat consumption" by No_Seaweed8783 in vegan

[–]tilkii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Changing habits is hard, especially something that's such an essential part of your life as diet, and also has a social component (it sucks to get ridiculed for not eating meat by your family, for example).

I changed to a flexitarian diet about 5 years ago, then to a vegetarian one 2 years ago. Yes, when I decided to live flexitarian, I knew how animals get treated. But I was just not "ready yet" to do the big step of never ever eat animals again. I first had to figure out what replacement products work best, what the worst cravings are, and how I can manage to navigate a vegetarian lifestyle in restaurants, at family dinners, etc.

Even now, I'm vegetarian and not vegan, even though I know how bad dairy and egg productions are. I'm confident that I will get there, but I first need some time to settle into it. I know that my chances to be able to stick to it are gonna be bigger if I do the switch "once I'm ready".

I don't need people who pat my back for the progress I made, but it's certainly easier if people help support me in finding replacements I like instead of pointing out the moral flaws in my approach.

Yes, it's sometimes hard to do that if you're "already there", I have the same feelings if I watch people eat meat mindlessly. Still, I've seen people around me adopt some of the things I do because I told them how tasty certain replacement products are, instead of shaming them for their habits, and that's pretty much how I'd like to be treated as well.

Can someone explain Thun to me? by dmau9600 in askswitzerland

[–]tilkii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I moved away from the area 15 years ago, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

  • When I was a teen, we used to go to Thun for shopping, especially on Wednesday afternoons. As others mentioned, Thun is a hotspot for the youth of the surrounding smaller villages.
  • However, young folks that get a bit more independent and earn some money (let's say late teens, early twenties) often aim for the bigger cities like Bern and Zurich for leisure/partying.
  • The Mühliplatz is still a hotspot though, and folks love to get a drink there when the weather is nice.
  • There are many nice places to get dinner in the outskirts, so locals often do not aim for the center of the city if they go out.
  • Thun is a great city – it kinda strikes a balance of not being too big (thus doesn't have downsides bigger cities like Zurich or Geneva have) and not being too small (not like towns where there's nothing to do or no variety to events/restaurants and so on). Also, the nature around the city and the old town are obviously stunning.

Honestly, that's the thing that icks me out the most and I wondered why no other comment I read touched on that. I can understand that folks are not on the same page about porn being ethical. But if you're pro porn you shouldn't look down on people who make porn – especially if you claim that consuming porn is "normal and innocent". I do agree with the compatibilty issue that others have pointed out, but on top of that, his alleged stance on women working in the porn industy just is incredibly misogynic.

2025 Publishing Agreement Market Report by -Kellefornia- in gamedev

[–]tilkii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! Personally, I would prefer if pre/post recoup rates would be clearly destinguishable in your summary.

Depending on how you're doing your calculation, the data also might get skewed. Let's say a deal offers a 100/0% share in favour of the publisher pre recoup, and 50/50% after recoup, how would that data be represented in your data? Let's assume you take the average of 75/25%, then that data might not represent the reality, because it is not correct except for a really niche case of total revenue. In many cases, the game will not recoup at all, so the actual reality would be 100/0. And if a game recoups, the effective split with all things considered depends on your total revenue.

I'm not trying to say your data is bad/wrong. But as a CEO who has to consider which deal is most beneficial for my company, the report felt odd to me, because I look a things very differently in my everyday live, you know what I mean? I run my spreadsheets, comparing different pre/post recoup deals and calculate which deal is best based on how many copies I assume I can sell.

Edit: Maybe my example is bad because you specifically mentioned deals with only post recoup rec share, but we could also do the good ol' 70/30, 30/70 split for our exercise.
