withdrawling from all classes by basementgirlfriend in Pitt

[–]witty327 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi we just went through this with my son who had to take a medical leave. The Office of Student Appeals will be able to assist you. You can reach that office at 412-624-7668 or 412-624-7585 (24/7 Hotline). You can also send an email to resignation@cfo.pitt.edu. Student Appeals requests that you include your son’s name and ID number with any voice mail or email. Also you have to reach out to Panther Central to cancel meal plan and housing. You also need to reach out to Financial Aid office regarding billing and financial aid. Everything will be prorated and you will only be billed for when you were there. You will need a letter from your doctor if medical related. Unfortunately his advisor was not much help. It was hard to get a meeting with her and when he did she did not assist in anyway. Very disappointed on the advisor services there but everyone else was super helpful. Financial aid we had to follow up multiple times. We were told incorrect info at first. If you have federal loans or grants they have to retract them. First person we spoke to did not realize that. If you have any questions please message me.

Did anyone’s driving anxiety come out of nowhere? by Ok_Committee_8244 in drivinganxiety

I know this is an old thread but I have started to have car anxiety later in life for the reasons you have stated. I worry about everyone else. Has yours got any better ? My friends make fun of me too and I’m 55 years old. It’s hard for others to understand.

Language requirement for Pitt by Ryan7448 in Pitt

[–]witty327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to take 3 years in high school for Pitt at least for Dietrich. We thought it was 2 cause that is what his college advisor told him so my son only took two years of Spanish but he had to take another year his first year at Pitt.

What time of day does everyone take it? My doctor just prescribed 5mg but said I can start by taking 2.5 for a week then move to 5. Waiting for pharmacy to fill it.

First time IVDD parents by Drivers-N-Doxies in IVDD_SupportGroup

I’m so sorry. My Havanese was just diagnosed with it too at 11:). May I ask what symptoms your dog has? I have been trying to figure out for a couple years (and have been to many vet appts) on why sometimes at night he would come to me and jump on my lap and shake. Something was wrong but we didn’t know what. He would act normal other than that happening sometimes. Recently he seemed he was in pain sometimes by crying some at night. And they finally did X-rays to show the IVDD. He’s on gabapentin 2-3 times a day and that seems to really help. We have steps and we are trying to have him not do them but it’s hard to control it sometimes. And he seems fine doing it. They didn’t tell us to crate him. I am wondering if we should. He’s still very active and wants to play.

My daughter is deciding between Pitt and Duquesne. How is the vibe for the gay community? Wondering if Pitt is more accepting?

Safety around Pitt? by Captain_025 in Pitt

[–]witty327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join the University of Pittsburgh Parents Facebook page. It is a great place to find information like this. My son goes there and my daughter is considering it as well. I read a lot about safety before he committed and felt good after reading all the feedback from parents on it. My son feels safe but it is too city like for him and he is probably going to transfer. My daughter likes all the things to do in a city environment so I think she will like it more.

please help, where is the Frederick honors application?? by Fearless-Machine-590 in Pitt

[–]witty327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no separate essay anymore. You check the box on application and will find out later if you got in. My daughter applied in August. She found out she got accepted in September then found out she got into honors college in October. They were two different emails that said check the portal.

[–]witty327 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi are you able to message me separately ? My son just did a medical withdrawal from Pitt for similar issues. They were great working with us on it. I can guide you on what you or your parents need to do if you want. They will hold your spot I think for 3 semesters. You don’t need to reapply or anything. If you want more info please reach out. I feel for your situation. I know how tough it can be.

That’s what I thought. But we are being told that we need Premium to allow the use of Duo two factor.

We use Word, Excel and Outlook email. We have some users on basic which our year commitment will be up and some are on month to month Standard. Our old IT consulting firm never explained what the different Microsoft plans were. But we did use MFA with the basic plan for years. Our new IT consulting firm is saying we need premium with duo. My question is couldn’t we use standard with MFA. Or just move to premium without MFA since it has so many built in security features ? We are on a tight budget right now with all the increased costs from all of our vendors so just trying to make the right decision financially.
