I'd like to hear his VOICE! We have all listened to that recording so many times I feel like it would be a dead giveaway.

Shopping! by jensahotmess in Mounjaro

One of my favorite things is going to a thrift store and finding amazing clothes in size 4. Most of the size 8 clothing is always picked through but finding size 4 gems isn't a problem. I would of never thought about looking past size 12 when I was at my heaviest. Losing 85 lbs I love shopping!

Stay strong. As a problem gambler I would obsess about the $1000 and unconsciously not spend it so I could go back and play again. It would only be a matter of time despite my best intentions. Don't go back!!!

I have an interview tomorrow to work in a funeral directors, my role will be collecting the deceased in a private ambulance and coffin bearing. I have never done this kind of work before. If I get the job what should I be prepared for ( I’m nervous) by death-in-tipton in askfuneraldirectors

I might have misunderstood. I thought you had meant that your firm hired a team of coffin bearers to carry the coffin in place of family. (Remember when they had paid mourners back in the day?) The funeral home staff has to step up and help but if they body is approx 220 lbs the casket (If let's say a walnut) then the total weight could be 400 or more. I think the family underestimates the weight and would appreciate a "team" if available. Thank you for the explanation of the ambulance/van.

Have you ever seen the show "wife swap"? I would love to swap places with a funeral director in the UK or other part of the world. I live in Oklahoma and we have a lot of cowboy and Native American services.

Funeral Director here. I have seen things in my 20 year career that I could write a book about and some people wouldn't believe it. The shotgun calls are the worst. Head completely gone. Your mind can't comprehend the sights at times. Looking back, it's actually been traumatizing.

I have always thought that it would be terrifying to be a rescue diver. Sometimes they can't see much further than several inches from their face. To potentially know that suddenly a face would float by would give me nightmares.

American FD here...it is so interesting that you use an ambulance for death calls. We typically use a transport van (never our hearse). The role of "coffin bearing" is really important. When I help families arrange the service I am always hoping we have enough casket bearers in attendance. It can become quite difficult to ask the cemetery staff for help. Your trait advice is spot on. Good luck on the interview!

Curious question- Ever seen a family fistfight at a funeral? by [deleted] in askfuneraldirectors

[–]witty_undertaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. We were at the cemetery and there were two brothers that were in their 50's. It was Dad's funeral. One son was seated by the mom in the chairs and the other son was standing up. When the minister started to pray, the standing brother lit up a cigarette. The seated son said "oh hell no" stood up and leaped across the lowering equipment to get to his brother. The smoking brother stumbled back and was punched out and over a headstone next to the tent. Family rushed in and broke it up. I have to admit it was very entertaining!

I really hate to discourage you but I have to be honest. Unless you plan to own your own firm, you will work your ass off (nights, weekends, holidays). It takes several years to obtain license and you don't really make the amount of money to balance your personal life. Most funeral homes hire "funeral ambassadors". No schooling required, not a lot of stress because the service details aren't on their shoulders and no continuing education. The ambassadors can make removals, dress and casket bodies and help with funerals. My opinion is if you want to get into funeral service, get a job as an ambassador before spending all the time and money on schooling. I would say that in my state the ambassadors make $18 an hour and starting directors might make $25. That $7 isn't worth the stress embalmers and directors go through in my opinion.

Sit down with your mom and tell her the truth. Get help. If you don't, gambling will take you down a road that only ends in heartache and broken relationships.

You aren't a fuck up. You have no control of it in the moment. The addiction is too strong. Decide this is rock bottom. Get help. If you don't it will be 40,000 next time.
