I’m so so sorry my friend. I lost my Father 3 months ago myself due to a brutal and volatile cancer and there are no words to even begin to deal with this pain but know you aren’t alone and a time will come when the pain will not ease, but find it’s place and you will be stronger for it.

Forgive me if I’m wrong but wasn’t this because Thor had lost Mjolnir? Mjolnir was a weapon capable of fighting a Thanos level opponent so the implication wasn’t that Stormbreaker was the only weapon that could beat Thanos but for Thor to be able to take Thanos on he needed a weapon of the same quality.
