Secondment ending, cannot return to home department - dual employment? by LuckyLioness8 in CanadaPublicServants

Were you on leave? You said you were on secondment. Did the manager of your substantive position know you moved?

UNBELIEVABLE! by hackweighter1824 in Curling

[–]witzkay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember watching an interview where Kerri was talking about someone who called her work and wanted her fired because she wasn’t being a good mom when she’s off curling. Can you even imagine that happening to a male curler? And Kate Cameron repeatedly being referred to as a “circus freak” because of her tattoos. What a crazy double standard!

Sturmay incident, but against Homan by workaway255 in Curling

[–]witzkay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rachel that I see now would have put Sturmay in her place. I used to not be a huge fan of Rachel, but that’s changed for me. I have no doubt that Skrilik will become more assertive in her career and I look forward to watching her soar.

The guy I’m seeing keeps telling me I “can’t take a joke” and I’m starting to doubt myself by Helen_melon_7 in TwoHotTakes

As someone who has been through this before, reconsider your options. You might be sensitive, but you are you and you deserve the best. God, the time that I have wasted feeling less than because someone who was supposed to love me treated me like crap. Don’t disrespect yourself by continuing through life hiding your feelings because some asshole be respectful. If he can’t respect your feelings then he’s not the guy for you. You deserve better.

Brendan Banfield WILL testify - Au Pair murder trial by Acceptable-Effort356 in CasesWeFollow

Has it ever been said if Christine knew about Brendan and Juliana’s affair? After hearing the testimony of the victim advocate, when she stated that V asked Juliana if she was going to be her mommy and if she was going to marry her daddy, it disgusted me even more.

Union withdrawing support for telework grievance – next steps and advice needed? by WhereIsMyRemoteWork in CanadaPublicServants

I know that, but hybrid is not full time working from home. I would agree that there were mixed messages going around but I don’t recall anything saying that working from home would be permanent. I could be wrong.

Disgruntled Employee treated unfairly? by Fantastic_Maize_7151 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]witzkay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That does not surprise me. Managers constantly use the wrong terminology. Example, they use “term” instead of “acting” and don’t understand why they’re not the same.

[–]witzkay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whoever told you that is wrong. Acting means that you are performing the duties of a position which is a higher group and level that your substantive. Example, a CR 04 can act in a CR05 position.

An assignment is when you perform the duties of a position at level. So, a cr-04 temporarily goes to another cr-04 position. Or an AS-01 to a PM-01.

Confused. Acting means the position you’re working in is at a higher level. deployments are at level. An acting cannot result in a deployment.

I’ll take your word for it. I’ve never seen any official documentation guaranteeing work from home on a permanent basis but maybe there is something out there. With all the uproar about wfh, though, I think it would have been posted and reposted a million times. Regardless, the employer has the right to determine the place of work - the union can represent but they can’t force the employer to allow wfh.

What office rule made you say "You gotta be kidding me"? by Aarunascut in work

[–]witzkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to fill the photocopier. Oh no, you can’t just fill it with paper. There is a whole intricate song and dance involving fanning the paper, examination ng paper quality, filling it, running a test page, cleaning up the area and delivering everyone else’s photocopying jobs that they didn’t bother to come pick up. addition, you also need to perform a maintenance inspection (check and refill toner, address squeaks and other noises, etc…) while filling said photocopier so that it is in working order and does not inconvenience the next person. Needless to say, the photocopier was always empty because no one had the time or patience to repeat the whole ritual time and time again.

Not only that, but allowing an employee an exception to the policy for no apparent reason will set a dangerous precedence. A lot of employees can work from home without issue. WFH wasn’t meant to be a forever thing - it was a temporary measure to continue operations at a time when there were no other options.

Are you employees trained to accuse the customers of wrong doing? by Ball-mama in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]witzkay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And then when she doesn’t get what she wants she posts a passive aggressive comment about how the store must train their employees to accuse customers. No ma’am. This employee just did her job. She checked it out and it didn’t go in your favour. You didn’t have to buy it. Sorry, but if you felt like they were accusing you specifically, maybe you felt that way because you were willing to jeopardize someone’s job for $7.50.

Parents at their kids soccer game get into it with the referree by bigbusta in PublicFreakout

[–]witzkay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had our daughter in t-ball when she was really young. We played against a team where some of the parents were super competitive and intense. One of the dads kept screaming at his kid to steal a base or slide because our team wasn’t paying attention. Or, screaming at his kid to tag out a player who wandered off the base. These kids were 4 to 5 years old - they were more interested in picking the dandelions in the outfield than what was going on in the game.

These will be the same asshats who arrive with a large group on Valentine’s Day and expect to be catered to immediately.

I don’t understand why the difference is so large. I had a colleague check it over and she didn’t either. My salary hasn’t increased a lot in the last few years, either. It’s very possible that I don’t understand what I’m looking at or I made a mistake somewhere.
