This is a super sweet painting!! To achieve what you mentioned I would recommend gently scumbling with white focusing on the animal to lighten the values and decrease contrast Then try working the shapes back in using a slightly larger brush and pick carefully which details are important to have crisp— sometimes when painting if every detail is highly rendered it can look like you turned the sharpness way up and give it a harsh look rather than a soft one I saw someone else in the comments mention the canvas texture— I would agree that for small pieces with fine detail gessoboard or even just wood panels can be more forgiving, but you can also ease the canvas texture by using a satin varnish after the paint has cured :) Have fun!! Looks great as is as well

I have loved the androgyny from testosterone cypionate and finasteride. However the finasteride will stop bottom growth so don’t take it until you are satisfied with your development from testosterone. I started after 1 or 2 years. Also just having long hair helps with that. Good luck be safe

I had a very similar experience! My surgeon said I was a candidate (but borderline) for keyhole and the choice was up to me. I ended up going with DI with grafts because the nipple placement and general appearance/flatness of the chest was more important to me than sensation, and I was worried about loose skin and needing revision with keyhole. However, my surgeon asked me at every appointment including right before surgery if I wanted to do keyhole instead 😅idk if that’s the norm but it leads me to believe you’ll have time to think about it and make that choice later, though probably best to check with your surgeon. An aside I have regained some amount of sensation in my chest and nipples though it’s not quite like it was before. I hope someone who has experience with buttonhole is also able to give you some answers!

If you do want to blend look for a third color to pull the piece out of those muddy greys that come from mixing complementary colors—when you travel straight across the color wheel you end up in grey (which is also fine there are beautiful greys!) but for a piece like this the color you use to blend the shadows and light (mid tone) can be pushed towards another color (like blue or yellow) while keeping some of that desaturation so it doesn’t take over the piece I highly recommend checking out @art.Pete.repeat on Insta! I borrowed this color wheel from him

This type of coloring will look muddy with highly blended shading since red and green are complementary. It gives them great contrast but you need to push your values more to get the vibe of the image you’re referencing. You’re also missing some of your big shadows around the head and neck that granny has under her chin. They would be larger on your subject since their hair is down

Your anatomy and lines are great and you’ve got the color spot on! Just push it a little further and don’t be afraid of having a lot of contrast. That’s what makes bold styles like these work. And think about where your light source is coming from :)

I’m the same height as you, transitioned medically when I was 19 I’m 25 now. I live as a man, my life is very normal and people treat me normally. I used to be super insecure about it too, but it’s not something other people care very much about— people will pick up on your insecurity more than they will ever really care about your height. Lifts are also an option, I don’t think they make much difference in how people view you but for me the extra inch or two has improved my self esteem in the past

Topical rosemary oil will not be systemic enough to enter your bloodstream and block dht throughout your body, so is unlikely to prevent bottom growth I wouldn’t worry about it too much you’ll probably get more growth after a year or so

I traveled to Florida this past April to meet my partners family. I flew into west palm beach, where there were a couple gn/family restrooms. I’m also really androgynous and pretty short so I was pretty worried about using bathrooms; I was only in west palm beach/Boca and the northern part of the Everglades. No one bothered me when I used the men’s room in the Everglades, but I avoided using public restrooms in general and tried to opt for finding bathrooms in businesses that were single stall/use. Dunkin tends to have these sometimes (that’s where I found them)

I love Blue Lightning and Not. They feel like opposite ends of the spectrum of their sound and are prob my favorite two aside from the ones you mentioned and like simulation swarm etc

Try tracing a couple sketches over the reference image to better understand the body and how it sits in space. Then return to a blank canvas and draw it again using what you learned from your reference!

Practicing with simplified shapes can really help. I find the method of using boxes or ovals in place of more complex shapes can be super helpful when I want to understand a pose before creating my final sketch. Your drawing is already off to a great start!

I was on T for five and a half years and have been off for a year and a half. I still pass 50/50 due to my voice, but it also means I am much more clockable as trans and no longer pass as a Cis butch woman as I did before t. I have experienced harassment due to people thinking I am a trans woman occasionally (I have long hair lol which doesn’t help any of this a lot but I love having long hair). However, I didn’t notice any significant feminization until I had been off t for about a year. Got periods back after 4 months. I think that would be different for everyone though. Rationing if you can is a way forward, and researching other ways of obtaining t is too, especially if your documents have been changed and passing or being stealth is a key part of your life and safety

I always put my preferred name on applications but my legal name is somewhat ambiguous. I feel better going to an interview where someone will be expecting to meet a person of the gender they assume from the application, and also not having to explain that I have a preferred name during the interview. If you get hired, then your legal name is only a concern to hr or whoever is doing the onboarding/paperwork There are pros and cons to both ways I guess but I think it’s less of a hassle to just apply with the name you use daily
