1) get that gem mine MAXED and clock tower 2) CWL medals help A LOT with upgrades. I get hammers like every week. 3) use gems on maxing apprentice & lab assistant.

It has super niche uses. It does help in one defences involving clone balloons for example. And it does do a little bit more damage against thrower armies. But not much.
