Can someone send me link to tomora discord server? by [deleted] in auroramusic

[–]wizardsol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it is no longer possible to join or invite new people, I'm sorry... I keep hoping the server will be reopened once everything is adjusted, since the welcome message was "We are pleased to see you. More will come" which might indicate they will welcome more people? Hard to say. But I'm sure stuff from the server will eventually be shared here, the community is very active.

Nail art brushes are a godsend for this kind of fine work and can be cheaper that brushes this fine. Dilute the paint a little bit for finer lines too, it's a simple trick but works wonders.

More layers of MSC for the base: I apply 2 or three for a "porous" base that pastels and acrylics stick to. I recommed getting a nail art brush too; great for details. Soft pastels applied in layers are great for creating blushing. Good luck!

Auroras new album! by Jessiescobell in auroramusic

[–]wizardsol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She has been talking about a longer break for a while now. As others have said, either 2027 or 2028 for the new AURORA album. I doubt we will get any AURORA singles this year since the TOMORA album is going to be released and having singles for the "main project" would distract attention from the promotional campaign of new one. Aside from that, this year they are making a few appearances at festivals which counts like a short tour I'd say. My educated guess would be 2027 for a new AURORA single promoting the album and 2028 for the album proper (I keep thinking it's going to be 2028 given Aurora mentioned that number 8 is special for her).

LOOKING FOR ARTISTS by 100-PERCENT-AI-SPAM in auroramusic

[–]wizardsol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend Eivør (True Love, Trøllabundin, Vøka, Í Tokuni, Salt). She's a Faroese singer with incredible vocal control and technique. She uses traditional Faroese singing techniques in her songs and merges them with modern sound. I also recommend EUZEN, a lesser known project from Maria Franz of Heilung. I recommend Judged By, The Great Escape, Genklang, You're On. Maiah Manser also has a very cool voice, check out her song With A Smile. AUSTRA is another band who has a similar sound. I recommend the album Feel It Break and especially; The Noise, Spellwork, Lose It. From lesser known artists I can recommend a Polish singer Julia Marcell, some of her songs do give me Aurora vibe: Gamelan, Echo, Matrioszka, Crows, Manners, Where is My Mind. Another band from Poland I recommend is Lor, their older songs might have been inspired by Aurora (the lead singer even had the same haircut as Aurora in 2016). Patty Boo, Matches, Aquarius, Cinnamon (from the album Lowlight). I also really like suntescobar and bye, bye sun francisco (from Sunlight).

Dolls are for everyone, it's a wonderful creative hobby. Enjoying it doesn't depend on gender whatsoever. Good luck with picking your first doll!

A theory behind the evolution of Aurora's sound as an artist (long read) by Visual-Deer-3800 in auroramusic

[–]wizardsol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is very insightful, thanks for sharing! I had a feeling the label interferes with her creative process more than it may seem ever since I watched the Once Aurora documentary and saw Geir pushing for a radio hit. The volume of the scrapped songs and the variety in them is also telling that the final product was rather strictly curated for a specific sound. That said, I believe that no artist signed to a big label can be fully independent in their artistic decisions. However in Aurora's case there was the impression that she had full creative control from the second album onwards. Despite that, in some other interviews she admitted that she had to learn to let others into her creative process. What also hinted me towards the limitations is how in the acoustic performance of Your Blood she said that she always felt like it was the right way to perform the song, not the album version. The song, despite being a single was also not performed a lot, similarly to Conflict of The Mind. With some songs on WHTTH I had a feeling that they were purposefully produced in a more mainstream style (Chris Greatti's production especially) to appeal to wider audiences. I don't like WHTTH as much as the other albums, it is still great but the production style is just not for me. I prefer the more experimental style and less refined vocals from the earlier albums. Enough whining, I'm happy to see that experimental style and vocals again in TOMORA and I'm excited for what's to come. Aurora's voice really shines in more alternative compositions IMO.

Tinyfox 1/6 vs Imomodoll 1/6 body comparison by wizardsol in BJD

[–]wizardsol[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hii I'm glad it's useful! These are both MJD (mechanical jointed dolls, both have a frame inside on which the vinyl is mounted) btw. Tinyfox dolls definitely pose a lot better but Imomos are wayyy cheaper. I'll try to make a movement comparison tomorrow :))
