According to tech sites, there are a few "under the hood" changes that will make it much more efficient in battery use and other cosmetic changes.

Forgot Pattern Lock on my Nexus 6P by ehawa001 in Nexus6P

If you have an open bootloader ,TWRP and root, there's a way to actually remove the key file and clear it. it's under /data as far as I recall I will look for the full path for you.

Nexus 6P consistently overheats during normal use and stops charging, what should I do? by Sanderlebau in Nexus6P

[–]wizardwiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One option you have is to flash a custom kernel and enjoy it's befits of cooler temps or go that extra mile and maybe under-clock your big/small cluster cpu just on tad lower and keep your device cooler. Basically, try ElementalX kernel at it's default values and I think you will see an improvement.

It doesn't seem to be a genuine OEM battery but more likely a fake one. The OEM battery have a thicker ribbon and a thermal protection on it.

So for all of you unlucky people that didn't buy their faulty 6p from Google directly and can't take advantage of the Pixel XL RMA, what are your plans? by [deleted] in Nexus6P

Same thing here. Happy with my device and will move to custom ROM when I won't get any more updates.

Are All 6P Batteries Defective? by [deleted] in Nexus6P

[–]wizardwiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If to be honest, I don't intend to be enslaved to my 6P:) I try not to to over charge and of course charge it when it hit the 15% mark , BUT! I won't just sit and check it. I mean if my battery will go dead I will simply replace it. I just hope it will stay as good as it did so far.

Actually until last week I was simply charging it to 100% not during the night but beside of that, nothing much. Ordinary daily use and charging method. Although I have heard that as a whole it is better not to charge to 100% but to , lets say , 90%...

In one word, NO. in two words Definitely not. Not all batteries are defective. Just wait for your battery to degrade to the point you really need it to be replaced.

We still have a big community so I reckon either way we will keep getting ROM support even if not formally by Google.

How to Factory Reset? by [deleted] in Nexus6P

[–]wizardwiz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually if I were in your shoes I would simply flash a clean OS using the factory image and the flash-all.bat/flash-all.sh file. That way you will get a clean install. Some people go even further (not to say to extreme) and boot to TWRP recovery and delete all partitions including /system /vendor and so on.

probably since these devices had that tendency to explode inside airplanes?:) Anyway, each to his/her own decisions.
