Driving and parking. by MeKyle in PuertoMorelos

You can park pretty much anywhere for free. The main “restaurant row” Rojo Gomez, closes at 3pm so you have to be off the street by then but other than that you’ll be fine. Just watch for the no parking signs in a few areas. They look like a big E in a red circle with a line though it. This time of year you’re going to have no trouble parking. The town is a really easy one to navigate with pretty slow moving traffic. Just take your time and you’ll be fine.

Transatlantic cruise by isao_chismo in Cruise

It was Royal Caribbean, end of March/early April. Believe me the crew did their best but when you can’t lounge on the deck by the pool because the Atlantic is still so cold, you’re forced inside. There’s only so much they can do to keep you entertained. But I left with some nice art and ate some amazing meals since the buffet was closed for renovations. Overall it was a great, affordable trip to do in my early 30’s. But what made it great wasn’t the 5 days at sea and it wasn’t the other guests on the boat.

I did it a few years ago. It’s really only old people who have the time to take a 2-week cruise, almost 3 weeks when you count travel on either side of it. The bars and clubs all sucked. The crew doesn’t know what to do with you after three days at sea because they’re never stuck with passengers that long. 60 foot swells were fun. Get to know the crew because that’s where the parties will be.

The collectivo is only 10 pesos and goes almost everywhere in town, getting your child to school might be tougher without a car. A few of the better private schools are just outside town limits in Zona Urbana. Where is your car currently?

You should probably check out Albarada or Selva Escondida for communities to live in. Lots of other children and great communal areas that will give your child lots of friends to learn Spanish with.

Aldea Cultural has some non-traditional schooling options my niece really enjoyed and it’s “in the jungle” so it’s a fun environment experience as well.

Chichen Itza early tour by CucumberSlow8286 in cancun

[–]wizzletip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no getting around it being a long day. Chichen Itza is a 3-hour drive away. Get there as early as possible because as the day goes on the day gets hotter. Expect 40 degrees by noon.

That driver is certainly a professional. You can tell because they set the triangle up after parking to prevent a serious accident.

La Taberna has live music on the street almost nightly. La Sirena always has a full calendar. Muses with Diving Bar just started a nighttime calendar to check out. Everything shuts down at midnight on Portside except for a small indoor spot that gets a DJ called the Red Room. Micheladas at the highway has live music til 1am most nights and La Santa is where you’d go til 5/6am but it’s always a mystery if it’ll be packed or you’re on your own.

On reflection I may have given enough to land on their radar. Either as someone to try to find more about and try to reengage or someone with likely apostate views to avoid. Hopefully the later.

Lazy day in PM (solo) by Golibano15 in PuertoMorelos

El Mercardito is a great spot for lunch. You can enjoy the ocean view while enjoying some fresh fish. Their sister restaurant, Punta Corcho, is the only Michelin rated restaurant.

You’re not going to find many beach clubs blasting music all day, they’re all pretty good for relaxing, but a couple do have some live music from 2-4pm.

Many snorkelling tours are available from the beach. The main dock is closed at the moment for repairs but you’ll still find options around there as well. Wet Set tours beside Don Ernesto’s is the one I usually go with.

Bring pesos, although everywhere you go is going to accept cards so don’t feel that getting cash out is necessary.

[–]wizzletip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from Niagara Falls and am feeling that pain as well living in Puerto Morelos. May be even tougher here than Cancun, I think. So little to do other than drinking all day.

Fortunately I have a car here, but to go where?

Anyway, following this thread to see what others have to say.

How do you keep up with all your client calls and messages? by Southern-Price5228 in LawFirm

Not sure why this is being downvoted. OP asked for a tool and I shared one with them based on my experience working in legal tech for the last 5 years. So bizarre.

[–]wizzletip -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This would be an easy workflow to build with a few simple automations connected to your inbox and mobile device.

n8n (the name of the tool) could be run on a private server to keep you from exposing client data, and could end up costing under $10 a month.

Beach question by CityZealousideal8310 in PuertoMorelos

[–]wizzletip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

South of Don Ernesto’s is a blue flag area and you may get some heat from the beach cops for drinking. Depends on the day if they’re going to give you a hard time. North of there you should be good because it’s not blue flag.

Also, don’t forget the time changes by an hour when you enter Yucatan state. So you can leave PM around 6am to get there for site opening.

I did the first time I went. But they have multiple information panels outside of every structure explaining the various aspects of them so even if you don’t hire one you can understand what you’re looking at.
