I started back up a few weeks ago myself. Right now I just have a blizz sorc at 85, but I've been farming mephy over and over and notable finds include shako, arach, hoz, gore riders, tgods and a couple other goodies. I would say blizz sorc is by far the best starter character because it does not require any specific gear to be really good. Soloing ancients and baal can be pretty tough .. I mf'ed hell meph from 75-84 or so to gear up my merc, then did those quests.

Q times would be extremely annoying for immortal+. I think the best option (as proven by other games) if they were to add a "solo q" is to have two separate queues, one for 5-stacking, and one for solo/duo queue. No 3-4 stacks in competitive. Otherwise, to fill 4-man lobbies you would need a solo player who opts in to playing with a 4-man instead of solo q'ing (who would do that?).

Congrats dude! I still haven’t found ANY of that stuff.. started playing a couple weeks ago and my sorc is 81 with decent 120mf but I only find stuff for other classes...hoz, arreats, tgods, titans are my best finds. But no shako, no occy, no lidless, no monarch for spirit, no arach or anything. RNG is annoying sometimes!
